I'm just posting this thread up so people have somewhere to discuss spoilers they read/hear about.

I'm going to unfollow this until the live shows start cos don't want to ruin it for myself :D

Love a bit of spoilers! ;)

Only bit of info I've heard is that the manufactured boy band are through. Anyone know the others?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89,016 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

For wildcards - the other judges chooses e.g. Lulu, Mel and Cheryl choose Simon's wildcard etc.,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Rumour has it that a fifth judge will be announced this week who will mentor the wildcards in the live shows... Dunno how much truth there is to it, but I've seen it mentioned in a couple of articles...

Anyone have any info on who the Wildcards will be? Haven't been able to find any info...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

Haven't been able to find anything at all which is surprising! Maybe later in the week there'll be leaks.

So eagle eyes on the star factor last night spotted a spoiler concerning the wild cards
the 3 girls were rehearsing and Lola walked by the sitting rooms glass door

Overload is the wildcard for the groups. They were papped at the house, well one of them was. The boy looks like it's jack. Thats about all I can get from the photos.

That's not a good move...or maybe a tactical move on whichever judge picked them?? Having two boy groups is just going to split the votes.

Especially a group that would be targeting the same age range, unlike Concept. Although, I can't see Overload hanging on too long. The new boy band seem to have a larger following.

So some of the wildcards got to skip judges houses altogether and jump straight to live shows? Height of fairness as usual.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,014 ✭✭✭Monife

I read that the overs wildcard is Stevie, the girls is Lola, the boys is Jack (from judges houses) and Overload for the groups.

Complete waste of wildcards imo. Jack is as dull as dishwater, Stevie doesn't deserve a place on the live shows, Janet Grogan should be in his place and Lola, while she has a good voice, crumbles under pressure which wouldn't pose well for the lives. Groups are boring in general this year.

I agree with all of those assessments of the wildcards.

Lola has more and less been confirmed, the rest who knows.

As long as it's not Rain for the overs I don't really mind tbh.

Agreed. I thought with Louis picking for Simon he would have picked Janet what with her being Irish. Shows how serious Louis is taking it by picking another joke act to go through to the live shows if the Stevi rumours are true.

I don't see the appeal of Lola at all. The tears would do my head in.

Hope she brings decent shoes along to the live shows...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

Really uninspired choices for wildcards if these are true. Would have liked Raign for the drama tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,317 ✭✭✭gavmcg92

I really like Jack's voice. If he is one of the wild cards he will be one of my favourites in the show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,317 ✭✭✭gavmcg92

Right so. Confirmed wildcards so far are Overload, Lola and Jack. All failed to hide their faces when they left the house yesterday and today. The overs isn't confirmed but the daily star is saying that it is in fact Stevi.

Also, there seems to be a change for who chose for who. Louis picked Lola for Cheryl. Cheryl picked Stevi for Simon. Simon picked Jack for Mel and finally, Mel chose Overload for Louis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

The producers picked each one for each judge ;)

Wish some from bootcamp had gotten through. Janet/Raign for the overs, and they've really messed up on the girls front. Should have put Monica in there, or else the really cute girl with the very short hair who Cheryl didn't put through cos she lacked confidence, whereas Lola completely messed up that round and has shown her lack of confidence the whole way through with her constant crying.

Delighted Lola is through (if true) - not getting the criticisms of her at all. I think she has a really good, strong, rich voice and she was no more nervous than any of them at judges houses. I reckon most of them cried being interviewed at some stage, she wasn't the only one! I hope she does really well in the competition. Yeah, she had one bad audition - big deal. Doesn't make her a complete write off.

I had heard rumours that Overload got the wildcard alright and find it a bit puzzling. Why include two boybands (especially when unamed BB are quite clearly Simon's pet project)? They maybe should have gone with the girl group instead or the group with the black guys in it. The category is just so samey and blah.

Jack - meh. I preferred Charlie Brown.

Stevi should be good for a laugh anyway. There would have been no point sticking another belter in there really, as the overs already have two really strong voices in there....and Jay James. It's always nice to have a Wagner/Jedward/Rylan novelty act to look forward to every year.
Although Raign would have been my personal pick. Didn't particularly like her, but it would have been fun to see Cheryl sucking lemons each week.

Kind of lousy on the other groups at Louis' Judges Houses.
All three other wildcards came from the Judges Houses round.....

Seems like that was the only reason why producers made that decision. I would be pretty pissed off if I was in Concept. Those lads seemed to be a tighter, more talented group than Overload. Producers are probably loving all of this though. They managed to make great tv with the singoff/overload exit but with the added accomplishment of having them in the show to shore up the younger audience. Not to mention the free app voting, which I would imagine is there to also keep the younger audience engaged.

I don't know loads of these songs. I'm so old.

Is Ghost Ella Henderson's song?? Is it even popular enough to be on X Factor? Genuine question, I don't listen to the radio and don't pay attention to the charts so don't really know much about current pop music.

Yes, Ghost is Ella's song. It was played quite extensively during the series whilst coming in and out of the ad breaks, so viewers would be fairly familiar with it, even if they don't keep up with the charts. Same with Happy by Pharrell Williams - that was also played a lot during episodes.

I think Steph, Blonde Electra, Fleur and Jay could be in trouble tomorrow night, just going by those choices. Depends on their running order during the show too. If any of those four perform really early on, they'll be at risk, imo.

Wildcard song choices will be interesting too...

Some genuinely useless information: "Bridge Over Troubled Water", arguably the most famous of these songs, topped the UK charts for three weeks before being displaced by...

"Earth Song", meanwhile, remains one of the least Christmassy songs to top the UK charts on 25 December.

It quite likely remains one of Jarvis Cocker's least favourite songs, too. :D

And I'd like to think that Simon and Co do know that the two songs below topped the UK charts for a combined 31 weeks in the first half of the 1990s...

Have to disagree. I think Blonde Electra have a perfect song choice. I know where Louis' going with this. It's going to be big production with plenty of dancers. I seem to be one of the few who think they're going to be fairly safe this week.

I think Only the Young are the ones in most danger. They needed something current and modern. Can't see them appealing to many people.

Good choices for Paul and Lauren. Both current and in the minds of those watching. Obvious choices and quite frankly boring, for Jake, Andrea, Ben and Jay. I want to see something new. Instead we're being treated to the singing competition approved playlist.

Interested to see what Chloe does with Toxic. There's no way she's going to sing it in the same arrangement as the original. Stephanie and Fleurs choices are both meh.

Only thing is, they're the least popular act going into the lives, going by the few polls I've seen. Big productions don't equal votes. I see a lot of similarities between this series and 2010, when Nicolo Festa (also lowest on most polls that year) had a big production during the first show and tanked completely.

The only thing that might save them would be the free voting - no one's going to waste money voting for them, but may cause some mischief if it doesn't cost them anything ;)

Yes, this group are the biggest mystery to me. They seem to have a lot of online support, but I think they're quite forgettable and I also have no idea who they're supposed to appeal to. Their song choice stinks too. They could well find themselves in trouble come Saturday.

Andrea and Ben will sail through, regardless of song choice. Jake and Jay both have uninspiring songs and could well be sweating on Sunday evening. I think they'll squeak through though.

Chloe's version will probably be something like this:

It's a big risk and it might or might not pay off. It didn't for Katie Waissel in show one her year and Chloe is so this year's Katie Waissal!

I think one of either Fleur or Steph will also be bottom two or three this week. Steph has the weaker song choice, but Fleur has less online support.

It's a toughie this week - I can see at least half a dozen possibilities for elimination and that's not even including the wildcards!

Is voting free to irish viewers?

Probably not. I seem to remember that the X factor app that they keep mentioning is geo locked to the UK. I guess it all comes down to a decision on tv3's end. It would cost slightly more than a standard rate but I can imagine with the "free vote" being heavily publicised by the show, they will have to reduce rates.

Ugh,Toxic,Earth Song,She's the One,Kids in America - it's the same bloody songs every single year!
How long before we have to sit through Purple Rain,The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face & I'm Your Man yet again?

There are millions of songs to choose from,I think the x factor should have a no-repeats policy.

Don't know why people are meh about Steph's song tho, that's the only one that's bang on imo. It will suit her voice perfectly, like Vanessa Hudgens in "Bandslam".

It was originally sung by a band called Bread. Then, in the late eighties, Boy George covered it and got a number one single out of it.
