I have feeling that the golf will need a few bits and pieces done next year. Although once I get the rear pads done in the next few days that should be pads and discs all round sorted. Then it will need a full service probably February which I think I will just do that myself. Will need two tyres in March I'd say. I want to get the gearbox oil and brake fluid changed too I think ill head to george to get that done. I don't know is brake fluid expensive to get changed ?

You can do it all yourself(other than changing tyres)! And looking up how will increase your understanding of cars obviously.

I had a thread about the gearbox oil and it would work out more expensive to do it myself as the oil is expensive to buy in 1 litre bottles and an independent garage that buys in bulk can do it cheaper. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing brake fluid it's grand until you bleed it wrong and end in a ditch. I am happy enough to do full service myself, electrical stuff and doing bits with body panels but I wouldn't go much further than that. In a few years I will eventually buy a cheap banger and take it to bits that's probably the best way to learn.

I've tried several times to bleed brakes on a mountain bike. Could never manage to get all the air out or do it without bolli**in a seal. Would rather not on the car!

I really can't afford to crash my car over brake failure tbh. Ah 50 quid sounds grand to get a mechanic to too it. I will probably get it done with the gearbox oil. I'll wait till April though I'll be on placement and loaded by then :pac:

You won't have brake failure from not changing it!

No but what I mean is if I attempted to change it myself and didn't blead it correctly it could be dangerous hence why it not something I'd be mad about trying.

But mine has dropped pixels and the time isn't even very readable :pac:

    Disregard!

Oh I get you now had to read it a few times for some reason I thought you said you fixed the stuff yourself but said you leave it to the professionals but get you now. Tbh I'm cautious enough what I go at and know my limits. Still it's nice to be able to do the basics rather than having to bring it to a mechanic everytime for every little thing.
