Who reckoned battery was needed last Friday?

Myself, completely dead. No lights coming on. Changed the battery and away it went.

Shur there'd be no fun in having an Italian car if you couldn't laugh at the predictable unpredictability of them?

I've had wishbone bushes go in german and japaneese cars. Anything with a big engine, the irish roads will take it's toll on them.

My point was your car is worth about the price of a weekend away, call that 500.
If you consider the items minor why bitch and moan about going bangernomics due to them?

Tbh, a v6 156 with the belts done and i assume tax and nct will be worth much more than 500e.
I just spend 900e repairing my car and my problems were much worse than sthenos.
Did i enjoy it? No, but i like to sort out all issues asap.

I had to have control arms replaced on an e34 520, was fortunate enough otherwise on a later 528i and an e60 520......

As sorting the issues prior to nct was mentioned I presume existing one has little left... As is much more than a monkey would be ambitious imo.

Ah here, I'm not getting into an argument on this. Stheno was venting a bit, listed 3 faults I remember all too well from my own fiat bravo days, and also has some more that from the same list. Bit a banter thats all.

Ive had worse, but very cheap, cars and more cheaper, reliable, soulless yokes. I still have fond memories of the bravo but you had to have a sense of humour (and a haynes manual) to put up with it :-)

The upper wishbone on the nearside front also appears to be going.

God how I wish I was a girl sometimes :D

** I am a female, my mechanic refers to me as the nutter as he hates alfas

Upper wishbones shouldn't be gone, trw ones were fitted last year.
If they are, they're 48 euro each

Would it be worth polybushing them? (if they are gone)

It was on my list of things to do. And definitely. Except it's labour intensive to do and the bushes can be expensive. Although theres a polish crowd, strongflex, who do the front set for 180 or so.
DGT can tell you how much fun Theyre to fit :pac:

If it were me with an alfa I was keeping for a few years I'd go for it. 180 is pretty good. There not to much fun to drive with a wobbly front end!

It shouldn't have a wobbly front end, the upper and lower Front wishbones were replaced last April, before I bought it. Knowing this car, it's being a hormonal b***h and the noise won't be there tomorrow. :pac:

The thermostat is stuck open, however the lights and belts are fine :) However I do have a door lock sticking problem which means the door flies open at random, and the LCD is telling me it's March one

My third year college fees got me today, €4000, didn't realise it as I got credits for modules in year one and two, sitting here mildly horrified and thinking of selling the alfa and going ****/ bangernomics
    .

The lcd is easily changed if you press the info button down beneath the climate control section. It allows you to go into loads of different settings (I quite enjoyed having it in Italian :pac:) and you can also reset the service intervals from there as well.

I think it might be hormonal, we looked at it last weekend and it was fine.
It takes the odd fit where it feels like it's tilting, then it goes back to normal.
Only thing we could think of was the wishbone.

Will be looked at, I was having a right vent, pissed off at my college fees being 300% more than expected

Failed the NCT last night on a unsecured battery but the battery is secure but the plastic box around it is loose. How does that fall under unsecure? The battery is bolted down as per the manufacture spec.
Did you query them on that?

Is there any risk if you just take out the plastic box?

I was in a hurry so I just left, going to back next week and argue the point. The battery aint going anywhere. But its the crappy plastic box that Audi puts in. I cant remove the box as the terminals are attached to the top. I could bodge a strap around it but why as it doesn't have any function really.

Probably why they are calling it part of the battery. Technically part of the battery and insecure. There always flimsy thing. I hate working with any sort of plastic covers in engine bays. It's a skill in itself.

I'm just trying to see it from there point of view. Any kind of movement around that area can be bad if it's causing any wires to rub against an edge or something. Say that to them at the retest if you think there is nothing wrong with it, could just have been a fussy tester. May be less hassle though to just stick a few straps and/ or cable ties on it.

Single screen with a custom frame.
sparco evo2 and a 900 degree g25 with the h pattern and clutch.

I want to branch out to 3 screens in the next while.
Epic fun and will be better once this wheel arrives :)

PSNI ISSUE IMAGE OF ROAD CRASH AFTERMATH

Lisburn police have released an image of the aftermath of a serious road traffic collision in the area. The picture which is being used with permission from the driver of the vehicle shows a piece of wooden fencing has broken, gone through a window and straight through the driver’s headrest.

PSNI Lisburn Commander, Chief Inspector John Wilson said: “A full investigation has been launched to determine the cause of this accident, but this picture shows that the driver of this vehicle was just inches away from a serious head injury. He is in hospital suffering from a number of other injuries including suspected broken ribs but he gave us permission to use the picture so we could show just how shocking this was.”

“In Lisburn we have had seven fatal road collisions this year, six more than this time last year. Across Northern Ireland to date this year, 73 people have been killed on our roads, 16 more than the total number of people killed in collisions during all of 2013,” said the Chief Inspector.

“We are getting tougher with drivers who flout the law. In Lisburn between the beginning of October and November 16, 145 fixed penalty notices were given to drivers for driving offences, which included 49 for excess speed and 56 for using a mobile phone. Two people were fined for not wearing a seat belt,” he said.

“All road users need to show responsibility. Do not speed, drive appropriately for the road conditions, do not drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, wear your seat belt, do not use a mobile phone while driving. Do all of these simple things, and you can help keep yourself and other road users safe,” said the Lisburn Area PSNI Commander.

Chief Inspector Wilson said: “Look carefully at this photograph. Understand the reality of this situation. Drive safely, and do all you can to avoid being in the same situation. This driver was incredibly lucky not to sustain much more serious injuries.”

“It’s winter, so darkness comes earlier and lasts longer. Pedestrians should wear brighter clothing. Cyclists should also wear reflective arm bands and jackets and a helmet. Motorists should turn on their lights as soon as light begins to fade," said the officer.

Chief Inspector Wilson concluded: “Be seen. Slow down. Pay attention. Don’t drive with drugs or alcohol in your system. Stay safe.”
