Chocking in my sleep

Hi all, More frequently I have been waking up in my sleep completely gasping for air and chocking. I cough so much I sometimes get sick. Its very frightening and hard to go back asleep, its also very frightening on my boyfriend. Is there a cause for this or can anyone suggest something?

Hi Pecker, I suggest you go to the doctor with this as we can't help you. They will do a much better job, good luck.
