Wright pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and assault of Harisikashra Rajaysur on Grafton Street on April 16, 2013. He admitted assaulting Killian Byrne and Karolina Dryzaite and robbing a purse on nearby Chatham Street on the same date.

He was on bail at the time after assaulting a garda and an ex-reserve garda on Abbey Street two months previously.

The notorious thug has 84 previous convictions, including robberies, 34 assaults and firearms offences.

Wright was just a teenager when he was jailed for 10 years in March 2007 for a litany of violent crimes, including robbery, hijacking, assault and threatening to kill gardai

    What was he doing out!!??

Joe Duffy will have he's solicitor on next week telling us how this guy shouldn't be in jail.

    He's just misunderstood!

10 years with a quarter lopped off before he starts. Though he should have been doing the full stretch.

I've no problem with good behaviour, it provides incentive for exactly that, good behaviour but when the prisoner spends his time assaulting officers and inmates it should be more time, not less ffs

I know....the 25% get knocked off and most people do manage to keep their head down and avoid too much trouble. This idiot was perfect to be made an example of.

23 hour lockdown like they have in the USA is what that fella needs, for the same crimes over there he would be probably be looking at serving 50 years.

Here he will probably be out before the first grey hair appears on his head.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,380 ✭✭✭daRobot

Considering he admitted trying to kill a man, in a random stabbing, he should be locked up for life if there's any justice.

If he was a dog, he'd be put down. But we don't do that, so keep him in a cage where he belongs either in a mental institution or a prison for the rest of his life.

Well it seems that the POs in Cork are deemed capable so if the Joy PO was as well educated he could have dealt with the situation.

Or maybe the Cork POs are hired in from Rentokil???

And there is a big demand for Prison space.

Although not the same enthusiasm as the q for the Swords housing estate.

Nope. Some people are an evil waste of oxygen and I'd have no problem if he ceased to exist. Read the report again. Hes no better than a rabid dog. I'm not saying he wasn't failed along the way re: environment, circumstances, family life etc but he is what he is now. An animal.

Some of them attacking foreign nationals on the street and trying to kill Irish lads with polish girlfriends ...

Oh! You mean the people criticising that lad are the nazis.

Ah yes the classic strategy seen on forums worldwide

    Blame the victim

I suppose it was also the other blokes fault for walking down the street and having someone try to put a knife into his internal organs

This guy is going to kill someone when he is released for good behaviour.

IMO it is seen as no use locking up people up who think being locked adds a notch to them where as if you lock someone up for a small crime, first offender it puts outers like them off.

Getting locked up is a stigma to some but is a right of passage for others.

    What's the BB code?
So I don't do it again.

Quote tags, bold tags, URL tags are all BB code, you just misplaced a bracket and it messed up the quote, don't worry about it.

Now lets get back on topic before I've to give myself an infraction

Happens on the show in "Coronation Street."
Should happen for all convicts. IMO.

Wright has amassed 200 serious breaches of dicipline since he first entered the Irish Prison system in October 2005 and is considered "the angriest man in Ireland"

    He's probably a Boardsie:D

So you admit that it's possible that society has failed him, but in the same post you say that society should essentially erase its mistake?

Do you not see a problem with that?

Contradictions don't bother some people. Being logically consistent is not seen as beneficial.

In that case just have some guards standing there when he's released. They'll catch him then.

Ah poor lad... Deserves a lot more and a bunch of friends. Let him kill a few random, innocent people - surely it will make him feel a little better

If that was up to me I would have no problem to tie him to the good, old sparky and flick the switch. I just hope that next time this vicious, sick animal is out it will not be me, my family or any of my friends who will be the target.

Nope. Read the article. The guy kills and tortures for pleasure. Our "justice" system WILL NOT keep him incarcerated for the rest of his life because some eejits think he's human. He's not. He's a mutation of human. The guy is a violent psychopath. No amount of love and affection as kid would have changed that. He's a threat to society and for as long as he lives he will continue to be. Do you want to be his next victim? Maybe a relative of yours might be? It's not a matter of if, it's when he will next attack and what he'll do to his victim that's in question. Someone like that should either be serving 100 consecutive life sentances on 23 hour lock down, or should be killed. End of. Far too dangerous to leave him roaming the streets. Which, in this country, he will be doing as soon as the bleeding heart brigade get him out of jail.

But the poor lad probably had a terrible childhood. He should be given a council house and a car,you can't expect him to use public transports with all the racism nowadays surely?

"Dublin Circuit Court heard that he knifed a Mauritian national, then an Irish man walking with a female companion minutes later."

Can you imagine that happening to you? Walking down the street, going about your business and that animal coming at you with a knife for no reason? I'm actually shuddering just thinking about it.
