A friend and I decided to throw our hands at a bit of DIY

I had seen those gun drawers for the back of vehicles on the internet. They seemed very expensive for what they were so said we would try and make our own :).

Very happy with how it turned out

That is some very tasty work.

Was thinking along the same lines for my own jeep, and something that could be removed entirely when i did not need it. Does that come out entirely?

It does indeed. Its lightly screwed to the plywood floor to stop it sliding forward and back. It cant move sideways due to it fitting snuggly between the wheel arches. everything fits in sweet as a nut :D

The Navara has slide rails built into the floor of the bed so i was thinking of placing a metal/wood sheet and has it slide along these rails. Then build the box onto this "second floor" and the full length of the bed so i can take it out when needed and have the tailgate act as a stop to prevent it sliding back and forth when driving.

thing is i sold the jeep so it's all academic now, but still nice work lad.

Might be obvious but maybe when you get a chance to write it up you could do up a "How to" of how yo did itt for anyone else considering the same option.

Very nice, Where did you get the foam?
Are the various bits wedged in tight? as in they can't bounce up and smack into the top cover if you hit a pothole or is the underside of the top cover padded too?

    Apologies for the delay.

Got the foam from e-foam.ie. Expensive enough really for something your going to cut up :). Everything fits really snug so no moving or bouncing around. much handier than your rifle or shotgun sitting on the floor of the jeep and shifting around. If someone would like one im sure there could be some arrangement made :):)
