Hi Slipshaney, that is... I don't know, I mean so fast.
So how much you get it for all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 835 ✭✭✭Slipshaney

Think it was about 135 euro and then 3.50 for parcel motel - came with the m1 mouse also.

Thx Slipshaney, you are so nice!
That was not bad, but the price seems beyond my budget. Guess I am willing to wait longer for a better price.

Definitely thinking of picking this up but I have a few spare small machines (Dell Hybrid, Mac Mini) with a greater spec to these boxes.

Is there much of an advantage over picking an X8-H up over using on of these spare machines and just installing XBMC and relevent plugins on it?

I would like to try new good things, and believe X8-H can give me a great experience, that's all I think!

I am thinking of buying one of these ,what is the min. broadband speed you would need ?
Gearblast seem to be the cheapest option but there could be customs charges ,is there anywhere else that I should be looking ?

I was thinking about that, how much would that be? Now I decide I want a x8-h, and with the best price.

A guy in work bought one of these last week from aliexpress and gave it to me for a few days - he asked me to set it up for him.

I set up the most popular video add ons in xbmc and installed the latest version of showbox.

While the hardware itself is impressive, good build and very snappy performance, I had a lot of reservations about the services. Nearly everything I clicked on either hung on 'working', said 'script failed' or asked for capcha codes.

I only spent a few hours with it so its very possible I hadn't set it up right but I wouldn't buy one based on the experience. I'm sticking with ps3 streaming from pc. Just my 2 cents.

Did you update the firmware? have you set up Xbmc before?

What's this like in comparison to the M8?

I've been looking at the M8 square box and other Amlogic S802 devices. Firstly there are alot of rebranded devices out there and some clones so be careful which one you buy. Check on freektabs to see if the model has been bought by others. From what I can tell the M8 square box and NEO-X8 have Bluetooth and dual 2.4/5 ghz wifi. The M8 ships with only 8GB storage, the NEO-X8 come with 8GB but the NEO-X8H come with 16GB. For me this is not a big deal.

From what I can tell the M8 square box ships with the Amlogic S802 only, I can't find a variant with the Amlogic S802B or Amlogic S802H chips. The NEO X8 ships with Amlogic S802, the NEO X8-H ships with Amlogic S802H. Again from what I can make out the Amlogic S802B chip can hardware decodes dolby digital, the Amlogic S802H chip can hardware decodes dolby digital and DTS. The Amlogic S802 chip can't hardware decode dolby digital or DTS and decoding has to be done through software like XBMC. For me this is not a big deal as I'd be using XBMC which software decodes.

The M8 square box and NEO-X8 have 2GB ram.

In the end I went with none of the above and went for what looks to be a Tronsmart Vega S89 Elite also known as the Beelink S82. It's a round box that comes with the Amlogic S802 chip, 8GB storage, 2GB Ram, Bluetooth and 2.4 ghz wifi. It doesn't have dual 2.4/5 ghz wifi but that is not a big deal to me, I'll be going wired and never had problem with 2.4ghz wifi. There are plenty of custom roms and it's well supported over on freektabs . I went for this because there are no reported clones on the market, the round pcb board is unique. There is a 16GB Tronsmart Vega S89-H model which has the exact same features of the NEO X8-H but costs less.

Also there are Linux roms for M8 square and the round Tronsmart Vega S89/Beelink S82

I'm awaiting delivery of this from the UK, total cost including parcel motel 74 euro.

"Minix is basically cramming the guts of a cheap Windows tablet into this little desktop. It’s powered by an Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core processor and features 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage.

It has a microSD card reader, 10/100 Ethernet, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and HDMI output. It also has an IR report and comes with a wireless remote control."

I ordered one of these last night from futeko and I'm going to get it delivered through parcel motel. I reckon I should have it by Monday. Do futeko email you when the item has despatched?

Any word on when that Minix Neo Z64 is expected to go on sale?

Could pick one up in the states if its anytime in september! :)

Wonder how Windows 8.1 would run on it tbh though.

    Rumoured to be October.
Also the 129 dollar price is not Gauranteed, But Minex say it'll be sub$150.

I'd imagine the Windows version will be in the Higher price range.

It seems to meet the minimum spec for Windows 8, so make of that what you will.

How does the specs on the Neo Z64 compare to the X8-H ? Have they been released yet and is it worth holding out for the few weeks for it ?
