I think it would just add extra study to an already crammed study schedule

    Applied Maths or not?

I'm not gonna do it. Tried it in TY and not for me! Regular maths is enough :)

I hear parts of it coincide with the physics course

From what we've down so far, it's similar a little bit. Like take Uniform Acceleration.

You have to learn the formulas in both Applied Maths and Physics. You need to learn how to derive them in Physics but not in Applied Maths. You have to use them to a small extent in Physics but to a much larger extent in Applied Maths.

So while they overlap, it's not as significant as you may think (at least from what I've done so far - there's probably more of an overlap further in the course)

Uniform Acceleration is probably the easiest part of Applied Maths (so far anyways :p) haha

If you're even halfway good at maths try applied maths, a lot of the course is VERY easy and the way it is marked is very generous too (only fully got 1 of 6 Qs out and got an A2 this year). If you "get" maths and are also decent at physics then a.m. will be one of the easiest subjects you can do :P

Wrong, all formulae are in the log tables and you get them on the day. There are some "shortcut" formulae for physics but you won't be stuck if you don't know them off

I meant learn about the formulae. Didn't actually mean 'learn off'..

I might make a separate A.M thread in September, currently learning it on my own, and it might be helpful to help people like me, who aren't lucky enough to have a teacher in the subject.

Have you got books for it? Or what's your plan of study? :)

Is there any point of doing applied maths instead of physics

Have exam papers, getting a book soon.
Getting grinds maybe this year too. Probably doing OL so it won't interfere with my point subjects but who knows

Two different subjects. Just depends which one you prefer really.

I've gotten an OL book because there's not a hope I'll be doing HL. Yeah I've got exam papers too but I don't really know where I'm gonna make a start with it all!

I wanted to do chem but couldn't so ended up doing physics.
Talked to my teacher and he said anyone who gets an A or B at Jc should be able to get an A at LC with work so keep that in mind :)

Tbh I prefer applied maths as im thinking of swapping physics for biology as it is more interesting imo
