I started outside Ireland, I suppose that counts for something. I've lived in Scotland, South Africa, London & Dublin.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Yeah. Was born out of Ireland! Visited 5 countries before my first birthday.

Many of my friends parents have never left the country, and have no intention of ever doing so. Each to their own I guess.

    Everywhere important anyway.

Yeah about 30 countries I think. Unlikely to be able to increase it by much more now that I'm poorer and more rooted to where I live.

I've been to UK, France, Netherlands, Spain, Czech Republic, Italy, Turkey, Kurdistan, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, USA and Cuba. I'm going to Iran next year and possibly Bangladesh at the end of next year as well.

I've been to every county in Ireland except Derry. I've never been to Scotland and in five years of living in the UK, I've spent less than seven nights outside of London.

I'm abroad most of the time :D I also like to go from abroad to abroad, although sometimes it's nice to go home. I know people, who don't really travel and it doesn't bother them at all. I don't think I could live like that but as said before each to their own. As longs as they're happy :)

in fairness the whole world is turning into the united states of america consumerism. lines are blurred wherever you go now. maybe what you meant was if youve never been to a developing country.

in europe there are different languages and cultures, same cant be said for the US. size isnt every thing ;)

Never left Europe but have been to 11 countries. It was 10 until last week when I accidentally ended up in Belgium when trying to find Maastricht.

I live in the US so yes, I've been abroad. My boyfriend is American and before we met, he didn't have a passport. In fact the only place he has ever been outside of America is Ireland with me. States are so big here and vary a lot though so tbh I can kinda understand why a lot of Americans don't travel internationally.

If you think there are not different languages and cultures in the US then you have either not travelled there much, or didn't interact much when you were there.

Yup, pretty much. :) I don't like saying it the countries because I have basically only been to one tiny part of the country, I haven't seen it all. :p

I haven't been outside airports there no, that was enough :p
and I do know they have different sub culture of languages but not no actual 100% language countries like say spain, where a 100%* of natives speak spanish.

I hear Iraq is great at this time of year. People are heading off a lot there these days.

I've never visited Ireland because I already live here, so it saves me the bother.

As well as living in Germany, I also fulfilled an ambition to have visited all the continents by the time I was 30. Combined a hiking trip around Chilean patagonia with a boat trip to the White Continent. Must say I fell in love with both Chile and Argentina when I was there.

    Was about to say that.
Lake Superior is bigger than Ireland.
Alaska is 25 times bigger than Ireland. You could spend a few years touring mainland usa. Not surprising so many don't ever leave.

Never been outside of Europe, though that should change next year.

Don't think it's overly surprising that some Americans never leave the country, it's a huge and diverse place.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I've been to England, Scotland and Wales about 15 times each. Though I only stayed in Wales a few nights. Also France and Germany. Next up is England again, and Spain when I can.

I try and get away three or four times a year if possible, even if it's only for a weekend. I'd go mad if I was stuck in Ireland all year round.

I didn't know Korea was a country...feck, I was labouring under the delusion that it was partitioned along the 38th parallel.

I should pop over to the "What did you learn today" thread while I'm at it, might as well inform the rest of AH.

I wouldn't classify any of these places as being 'abroad'.

They're in the British Isles after all.

    Just like us.

Friend of mine wasn't abroad until he was 29. Not like he wasn't/isn't earning money, he just wasn't arsed.

Been to Amsterdam around 3 or 4 times since. Good lad.

Extensively travelled since I was 16 & sent stateside.

USA, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Barbados, Bahamas, Hawaii

Would love to go to Indian Ocean, Tromso in Norway & Alaska.

But happy with what I have done,

Travel certainly broadens the mind, defo have to travel alone to get most benefit
