I thought we were playing a game? No?

    Okay. Sorry. :(

I'm always playing a game. That's why I come here. The game is read the crap other people write and feel smugly superior, regardless of whether I actually am or not. Is that the game you were talking about? :D

No, that's sounds much too elaborate for me.

I'll go back to playing with my rocks. :p

I have the latest iPhone. I'd get a HTC One as that is the best Android phone you can get, but there is no comparison between a top tier smartphone and a €250 android. A HTC One S5 and 5s are all in the same price range and destroy cheap phones.

Once you're at the top, you can't come down to a cheaper, lower specked, poorly built phone. Once you're used to the best available, you won't want to go back.
I agree cheap Android devices can be terrible, and the bloatware some manufacturers put on the devices is chronic (Samsung, I'm looking at you). But I picked up my Nexus 4 for €200 from Google. For a device with hardware that's almost two years old, it's going really strong. I've received the latest updates (KitKat has simplified Android so much, and cleaned it up immensely) and the hardware is terrific. There's also the Nexus 5, that comes with the 'pure' Android experience, and I've heard nothing but good things about Motorola's offerings with the Moto X (a €300 + device) and the Moto G (a €180 device). These Moto devices come with a pure Android experience also.

Point being, consumers should do their research before branding Apple being their only choice for an easy-to-use Smartphone option. Android has come a long way, and there's little reason to be robbed by the Networks.

what I hate most is when people complain about (classic example) someone just above said the north face, this is a climbing brand (to keep you at the right temperature in the right conditions) just cos its a jumper does not mean its a 'jumper' its (and other brands like it) are made from technical fabrics which cost money to develop.

If you buy this sort of stuff to wear on the street only, then you are a brand whore. end of story. stick with pennies then ;)

Or maybe they want something that actually keeps them warm and dry? If it's a jacket designed to be worn outdoors, doesn't matter if it's on a street or hiking up a mountain does it? What's the point of wasting money on a pennys jacket that doesn't do the job properly or falls apart after one season of wear.

Windows Phone is also an option :p

It's good to have choices in all these things, and if it works for someone, whether they prioritize style over functionality or vice versa, then as an adult one should be used to the idea that people will see it as their entitlement to pass judgment upon others who don't dance to the beat of their tune.

I used think I was a particularly judgemental, superficial bastard, but after reading this thread, I'm positively mellow compared to some of the stuff written here! :D

    Performance? Nah.
Looks? Maybe in the past, but most Windows laptops are very nice looking now
    Durablility? Same as ^

I think people still have in their heads that Windows 7/8 are like XP i.e. not secure and riddled with viruses. I have had a 7 laptop for 4 years now, a Samsung, and have not had a single *proper* virus...just the usual bits of crap you pick up while surfing the web, and the MS Essentials made light work of it.

So to sum up, sure, 6+ years ago Apple products looked nice etc, etc but everyone else has caught up and in some cases surpassed them.

    Agree to disagree then ;)

Have a North Face rain shell that I wear every time it rains, be it on O'Connell street or in the Austrian Alps or at Electric Picnic. I agree when it comes to those huge logo hoodies, but don't knock a reasonable outdoor brand.

Microsoft are a bit like the Borg in the way they do acquisitions and mergers - "Resistance is futile" :D

$7Bn might look like a nice wedge, but they'll make that back when they eventually engulf Nokia.

Junkies and child molesters the lot of them.

I hope you are saying that in jest ... my 2 daughters 11 and 9 love to shop there because it is what we/they can afford... AND I can assure you we are not junkies, child molesters, scumbags, scroates or any other sub-species. As it happens even if we were loaded I see nothing wrong with shopping there. There are a huge amount of people that are unbelievable scum shopping expensively and wearing top end clothing. Book & cover springs to mind.
