Anyone know a quick and easy way to calculate roughly how much energy your gaming PC uses on a 2 month bill? Never bothered to check it before but I'm just curious now after reading a thread about power usage but the prices were for American users.

If its modern system, not a lot really in comparison to the past. I still can't get over the fact my 200 watt proc scales down to 10-15 watts when its not doing anything.

Honestly I'd use IEMs in work. If you have hair, no headphone hair. Don't look like a gamer. Even cheaper units have great isolation. Don't look like you're gaming/faffing off.

Second this. I usually use IEMs. Most of the lads use headphones, as they can be more comfortable for longer periods, but I prefer the bang-for-buck quality that IEMs tend to have over full-size cans.

I actually have a nice set of IEMs which I have been using, and they do the job just fine for music. I wanted headphones for the use of a microphone as I have to use the phone a lot, and we have access to a web based system so I could use a headset.

Might just stick with the IEMs..

    Oh, got'cha.

Personally, I prefer a separate headset for calls, mainly because I don't like not hearing myself, so I go with a single sided headset.

If you want something cheap, Sennheiser does PC-21 - I think - that's great. Only about €25 and it's perfect for Skype calls and the like. If you want something high-end, Logitech does a H820e. Both of those come in stereo as well, if that's your thing.

Do you have a deskphone? If you do there's a yoke called a headset buddy allowing you to use any headset with an RJ9 phone connector. Very handy if you want a boom mic without the crap headphones.

Lads for Eir Fibre F2000 modems. if you factory reset those, it should be a case of plug in play and no settings will need to be changed to get the connection working with Eir again?

Yeah, factory defaults are configured to work out of the box.

I've an old PC I'm looking at selling and need advice on what to price it at. Specs are Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 with a Thermalright Ultra Extreme cooler, 6GBs DDR2 RAM, EVGA Motherboard (not sure which but it's a relatively high end one and supports SLI), 1GB 4870, 750GB hard drive, Coolermaster Cosmos S case, 700w modular PSU. Any ideas what I could get for it?

I'd say about 200. But this is probably way low ball.

    Harsh but true.
You'd be better off splitting it up and selling the items separately.

Probably but I don't really fancy the hassle of splitting. Was hoping it would be worth more than €200. Depreciation on tech hardware is a bítch. The case alone cost more than €200. I suppose I'll just stick it up on eBay with €20,000 worth of pirated software and call it a uber high end gaming PC. I should easily get a grand for it then. :D

You could re-purpose the case as a garden shed, or sell it as a shipping container. Loads of options with case that size!

Ha ha. I'm moving to Dublin soon so I could live in it and save myself a few hundred quid a month on rent.

Considering posting idd led to a bunch of posts about it and what it means, can it wait be considered short hand?

Absolutely not. I'd love to find the moron who started that and give him a good smack.
