    Hi all

I have a pointer bitch in training. She was just getting through her first heat cycle so out a bit more the last few days.
After days of confinement I chanced them all out under supervision the last few nights. The dog was showing no interest like before so I was foolish enough to drop my guard.

So last night I was putting the finishing touches to a job in the garden. The dog was beside me for over 3 hours. Didn't leave my side. Was very orderly & mannerly the whole time. Just sitting there upright sniffing into the warm evening breeze, casting an eye at me here & there but staying close & not getting in the way or robbing tools I would leave down like normal to start a game. He was so behaved i remember stopping for a photo on my phone.

Little did I know what he was plotting the whole time but the golden behaviour should have been clue number one!

I then had to put in a few screws down low so was face level with him when he was near. Breathing into my face ensued followed by a "will you ever Fk off!" which he swiftly did. Looking back, with little fuss as usually he would put up a fight & look for more attention.

Literally 30 seconds later I looked up & to my horror I was greeted by the sight of him at was the other side of the garden smiling at me whiles mounting the bitch! Took running over but was too late. He was 'gently' kicked off her but he was already tied! I couldnt believe it! For a dog of 6 & never having had the pleasure of a lady's company he sure as hell figured it out quick!

So the neighbours were treated to a tarade of my finest profanity. Once I got over my fit of rage I realized it was my own fault. As I looked at him stuck there not a care in the world still doing his best to smile, as if this was part of the daily routine I didn't know whether to offer him a fag or a beer.

I soon started to back track in my head & figured he had been staring though the pens for days, not eating, whining & I guess suffering. This was sweet justice & it would take a lot to convince me that this wasn't premeditated from the minute I left him out last night. Elvis got it right all those years ago & I couldnt get the song out of my head today!

I had planned on getting a pup for myself maybe next year or the year after as the breeding is top class, so not the end of the world if she takes but a lesson in there! NEVER TRUST A HOUND DOG!! :o

I've had a few like father like son jokes at my expense all right.

Timing is a mixed bag if she takes. For the bitch it stalls her season by a month +.
The flip side is that the pups would be perfect for the following year. 13 months or so hitting the season is ideal I find.

It's a waiting game now I guess. If anyone is interested in a potential pup let me know. Would rather send to homes to lads on here & few lads around home than advertise openly. All hypothetical for now obviously.
