Hi can anyone tell me if i need a gun safe if i am applying for a gun licence for a .22 rimfire rifle.
i seem to be getting conflicting stories depending on who i ask, some say i dont if i take out the bolt and magazine and store them separately and use a trigger lock, others say i need a proper gun safe.

Rifles have to be in a safe.

Only a single shotgun can be kept with a trigger lock.

As Blay said you need a safe. Only a a shotgun, and only if the Super allows it, can be disassembled and stored in separate parts in separate areas.

    Yes.

By ticking that box you are saying you conform to the minimum level of security for the gun(s) you have which in this case is a safe. If you tick it without having a safe or don't have one if/when the CPO decides to call out and check then it's a fraudulent application and may be refused.

This is the worse case scenario, but no point sugar coating it.
