.22 bullet holder

Anyone any idea for a bullet holder whilst hunting.They rattle a lot in the box they come when you are walking.

I keep them in a pocket. Now it's .17, but i done the same with the .22 stuff.

In the pocket they can "rattle", but it's no where near as bad as the box where the majority is the bullets moving in the plastic. The sound is muffled and if you use a smaller, tighter, pocket there is little to no movement.

Of course you can go "fancy" and get one of these.

I use a neoprene pencil case, does me perfectly!

I use the plastic boxs like the CCI with a small bit of cardboard under the sliding lid. But the real trick is which pocket you use, hip and trousers pockets are the worst because the move the most. Jacket pockets are the best.

How could you keep them in a pocket when the wax will gather up dirt and grains of sand.Where can I get a neoprene pencil case that is suitable for the job.

The pocket i use is a zip pocket. It's only opened when i'm reloading the mag. Plus when i get home i empty the pocket of ammo and turn the pocket inside out to give it a clean. Just to be sure. Also the .17 has no way on the bullet so maybe look into getting a .17hmr. Hassle free shooting.

If you wanted to be fussy and use a pocket get a small plastic bag, cut it so it fits the pocket like a liner. Place the ammo in the bag, in the pocket. When you're finished shooting take it out. Simples.

I've never owned one. It's basically a .22lr necked down to take a .17 bullet. The speeds are ridiculous for such a small round with average speeds of 2,000 fps+. Meaning it's 800 fps faster than a stinger in .22lr. Plus with the Hornady BT bullet it's devastating on game.

Think of it this way. The Mach 2 is to .17hmr as the .22lr is to .22 magnum. Same bullet just in smaller case.

I went kinda fancy and got 4 new 10 round mags as well as the 5 round mag that came with the rifle. 45 rounds is plenty for a day after the rabbits. any more and I can go back to the car and get them.

That is always the preferred option. Had plenty of mags, both 10 & 5 round, for the .22lr, but as of yet have not gotten any spare for the .17hmr. Something i need to do actually. Was at the range and left the mag at home. What a pain in the ass trying to load each round individually so imagine loosing it and having to play around with loading a single bullet at a time in the field.

I got them from CZ direct worked out about €100 for the 4 of them.

First time with me out zeroing the .223 last week same thing happened to me left the mag in the safe. What a pain having to stick my finger up the magazine way to hold the round stedy while closing the bolt.

Try that with fat fingers and a mag well designed to accommodate the small .17 round.

This is what I use as a mag holder. Its an old leatherman case just put on my belt and all my extra rounds are on my hip.

It only each second row of stitching that's un-picked.
I wish I had that CZ varmint back now, great little rifle so it is.

I use this, It came with a pencil case and its neoprene and kind of tight so theres not a lot of room for the bullets to bounce around. It holds 50 bullets, the magazine and the thread cap easily.

The colour is handy if I drop it.
