What is a bull beef ration as opposed to a steer ration. All you need if it is young bulls is 1-2% more protein depending on finishing stage. With present grain prices a top class finishing ration should be not much more than 200/ton

It will be couple of weeks until this years grain will be ready for feeding but yes 200 will be buying a good high energy ration.

Ration. You'd get run over this part of the country by builders trailers going the roads with jfc bins in the back.

F**k that for a game of soldiers.

Any idea what's in that charlie? Looks to me like the millers are nearly as good as thesco and larry at riding farmers. They get top quality barley and wheat from us, the mix they sell has maybe 25% cereals and 75% fillers/by-products for 100 yoyo a ton more than the cereals.

Just lease it to the factories. That's where the money is. Sell them a few bales of silage and stores as well. Sure aren't some of the ex top men in the ifa doing it.

I'm guessing you have a job, I used to set my sheds too, you do what you have to do, interest was 18-20% when I was setting my sheds

I have an off farm job, no sheds though, only haysheds and cow sheds. May have missed out. wasn't farming when shed grants were going. If I had one it would give me options alright and I could rent it. My cabbage patch wouldn't pay for one though.

Get in on the young farmer scheme and look at the organics schemes. Can't beat government cheques at the end of the day

certainly can't, I'm not a qualified farmer though. Can I still do these schemes? Never heard of them. I have a college degree.

If you're under 35 or 40 you qualify for young farmer. Unfortunately i don't know anymore about it than that as whilst I'm young, I'm just not young enough.

Department website has it all. Specifically look at the national plan sent to Brussels for approval. It is long but just read the bits that might apply to you.

You can farm organically, but you need gcert for other schemes such as yfp and cap ex grants. Your college degree if it is level 8 on the nfq will get you into the dist education gcert. The app period is still open for this year,
For a farmer like yourself who isnt investing in stock/facilities and is making a substantial profit what would be the point?

Not sure wasn't aware of scheme. To be honest I have no intention doing gcert. Not sure what benefits it would give me.

SFP? Young farmer top-up? Grant on equipment? Worth looking into before righting it off. You might also learn something

Get sfp anyway. Not sure cost of doing the course would benefit against other benefits. Not righting it off will look into it. Sure I will learn as much here as anywhere :D
