3-4k for a 2.8 Diesel Engine bus would be ok if it saved major time going from whitehall to (say) sandyford. Not a beauty Contest. Parking would be in staff car parks.

Why don't you just leave earlier in the morning? I did Stamullen to Sandyford for years, then Drogheda to Sandyford for a brief period. Currently Drogheda to not too far from Sandyford - on the road before 07.00 and in to the office in under an hour. Slightly over an hour on the way home, and that's because it takes 15 minutes to get to the M50, but it's fairly easy going once you pass the Red Cow.

If you could work it to get out of Sandyford around 17.00, you'd be mainly fine.

I've done swords/sandyford in 25 minutes. I've also been stuck on the M50 in winter, every few days, for up to 2 hours, and its just totally draining. Then there is the ocassional M50 psychopath to deal with.

Those times don't include sitting in gridlock if you need to move within the city to get to your office.

If only it were feasible to get on an actual public bus and cross the city efficiently!!!

EDit: What I really need is a job with flexi-time.

Why don't you take it nice and handy on a motorbike?

What's the fine for driving in a bus lane? I can't see any penalty points for it on the rsa website. Is there a limit to the amount of fines you can get? Not saying you should do it but if there's no points for driving in a bus lane then a fine isn't a big deal.

    Perhaps it could fall under
"Failure to comply with prohibitory traffic signs"
    or
"Failure to comply with traffic lane markings"

While the M50 can be painful trying to drive a big vehicle though town every day is going to be much tougher. At least on the M50 you only have lunatics in vehicles coming from behind or side in a city you have to deal with lunatics on foot, bike and vehicles coming from all directions . Even with bus lanes you will be getting stuck behind working buses stopping every 100m at bus stops and being in a large vehicle you won't be able to dip in and out of the lane.

There isn't much parking in Sandyford and even less that will easily take a minibus, if they even let them park.
