Whats the furthest distance you have gotten a kill with your rimfire 17 hmr/22lr-or even punched paper with it!

    Shooting:
    • Paper punching accurately to 200 yards with a .22lr, and for sh*ts and giggles to 400 yards but it was a joke. No accuracy.
    • 109 yards with the .22lr on game
    • Nothing worth talking about with the .17hmr for game. No long range shots yet. All under 100 yards.
    • For paper punching with the .17hmr. 1 - 1.25" groups at 200 yards. This was 4 groups of 5 shots per group and average over the 4 groups.

    Ammo used:
    • Lapua SK & Eley Sport 40 gr for paper
    • Eley 40 gr subs for the .22lr for game
    • Federal 17 gr for the .17 hmr for everything

Haven't really gone the distance with the 22lr. However, have taken a bunny around the hundred yard mark using a bipod and tree.

Prefer to walk about and take them between 50 and 75ya.

Clay pigeons at 150 yards, happy with 75-80 yard head shoots on rabbits.

    Much adjustment for that distance?

about 200 yards on a rabbit and about 150 on a fox..

Calm weather with no wind and you can push the ranges out.

22LR :143 yds slightly downhill; clear shot in short grass; CCI Subs

17HMR: 192yds level ground, longish grass, Hornady 17gr BT.

Both calm conditions, kneeling. Really not worth the effort IMHO.

Some of my best shots have been at relatively short range at moving targets - now there's a challenge.
My best ever was in 1986 - standing headshot at running rabbit 97yds - at dusk. Not a fluke, but don't think I will ever shoot that well again. Using RWS high velocity 22LR back then.

I try to keep to 100yds or less now, just to be sure. I'm mean when it comes to buying ammo.

S&B 6 42, zero 100 yards, aim point top of bunnies ears as they were pointing up.

Seen a gray crow shot at 359 yard in a tree with a quarry wall as a back stop , he fired at the second one and missed !

Only I seen it I never would have believed it .

    Cz rifle .17hmr and a 8-32x50 scope

Free handed a bunny at 60 yards with a friends Krico WMR..

The best bit was the scope and barrel were badly damaged
as in bent!.. the rounds were being thrown anywhere within a 6inch group..

    :)

Why were you lying on a rabbit, more stable?
