This is like The Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, except with more media coverage.

I wouldn't mind the Soviets nuking some people at this stage.

He has never given an interview to Newstalk 106 Ireland's second biggest radio station

What about the respect for the 160,000 that held tickets for five months, some of whom booked flights, hotels, arranged holidays around.. do they not deserve respect, no?

Typical fcuking Ireland, where an American cares more about 145,000 or so irish people getting ripped off, than their own fellow citizens do.

How are you getting ripped off? you are getting a full refund.

The moral compass of people in this country is pointing the wrong f*cking way. Sit on our arses and accept property/water/stealth taxes and universal social charges but stop us from seeing an insincere, greedy country and western singer and lets mobilise the troops.

    Its sickening stuff.

It will be fúcking CLASS episode of 'Reeling in the Years'. :)

A "yes"... Go fúck yourself Garth, he's a bloody country singer who's demanding a whole COUNTRY should change their laws to suit him.

If he gets what he wants I'll get sick.

    Agree with you 100%.

We have though, proven, that we are a country who will change our laws, or our political drive, to suit bigger powers or business interests.

If I had a tenner for every time 'Gombeen' has been mentioned in this and the last Garth thread, I'd have a serious hape of tenners.

True, only if you rule out the "could not give a ****" portion of the population.

i could not give a *uck but if i voted i would vote in favor like most would because the positives vastly out weigh the negatives.

A friend of mine just posted this on facebook.
Let me say this once again - if Garth Brooks doesnt play - my cover band, who dress as stormtroopers and play his biggest hits, Darth Brooks, we are ready.

FFS, I am only catching up with this. This sycophantic nonsense is even more embarrassing than the Brazil football team. I cannot believe that the Government are getting involved

So we have a foreign citizen agitating for us to change our laws to suit their own agenda and seemingly having some success with it? I wonder how he'd feel if we decided to poke our noses in the law making of Oklahoma?

It´ll be a Hollywood Movie, you can be sure. I think I´ll write a screenplay now and try to get the rights. Not sure if it´s going to be a comedic farce or a weepy. I´m thinking somewhere between "Spinal Tap", "Love Story" and "Finian´s Rainbow". Or maybe "The Dukes of Hazzard" meets "Deliverance".

Yeah, I know right? Aiken/CP/GAA had so little respect for 160,000 ticket holders when they decided to plow ahead with an unreasonable number of concerts. But that's not who you're talking about, now is it? ;)

He hasn't cancelled any concerts. DCC has. He still wants to play them all.

After watching some of the GB video on youtube, I can safely say, Garth Brooks is the american Daniel O'Donnell.
He actually said "I'm scared". Jesus wept.

What about the licencing legislation that does now allow a decision to ve appealed or changed? You would need to break that law to allow the 5 to goahead as planned.

That's the legislation I'm interested in reading up on. Do you have a link to it?

He has already been offered 4 nights, so if such a piece of legislation does exist.. one that says that under no circumstances can a decision be changed or appealed, then it has already been broken.

Allowing him to play 5 gigs at this stage wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to that. It's already been shown that decisions can be overturned or altered.

It'd be easier now just to allow him the five shows and change legislation so that it's concrete and concise and to ensure that such messing about cannot happen in future.

He hasn't cancelled any? So the three with licenses are going ahead then?

He said the three that he got permission for were off. Or is he still playing them?

Let me say this once again - if Garth Brooks doesn´t play, my cover band, who eat lots of beans, wear diving suits and swim in small streams, "Fart Brooks", we are ready. (Unfortunately our last gig, scheduled for a small section of the River Dargle in Bray, was cancelled on the objection of local residents who were concerned about air pollution).

How do you know the majority want this to go ahead?

Only 43 Percent of the 14,000 people who cared enough to vote in this poll agreed with our glorious leader getting involved.

Can you cite the law in question? People keep going on about how 'the law' is being ignored but I have seen anyone actually say which law in particular.

Apologies, a decision was made by the DCC that can't be appealed. I'd imagine that decision isn't based on nothing, even though people don't seem willing to admit that some civil servants do have brains in their heads and come to an educated conclusion. Laws would I'm sure have been taken into account in reaching the decision. I don't know all the laws, it's not my job.

Now, a question for you. Can you show how most residents are for the concerts, as you have claimed many times? Yeah, there's some dodgy stuff going on on the resident's side but that doesn't mean most want the concert to happen or are indifferent.

So he's just said that the planning officer should be told that he's done his job and that everyone should be able to go and see all the concerts. What an arrogant w*nker.

Nobody can tell. But let me say this once again - if Garth Brooks doesn't play - my Liverpool-based cover band, who play his biggest hits in aid of famine relief, Gorta Brookside, we are ready.
