Invite sent it may take a while, MS have to approve anywhere from hours to weeks.

I just tested the media app, with XMBC running on an old PC and it was able to stream movies directly from the PC. worked flawlessly.

I installed the preview dashboard and agreed to all the usual things.

In Console Registration I've been down as 'Pending' since Friday. Is it just a matter of waiting or have I missed something.

I thought the October (I guess the clue was in the name) dash update was out and moved a load of movies to a USB stick to try it out, only to get a whole load of nothing.

It is a dlna media server that you literally just put your content into its library and it does everything for you (gets cover art along with episode synopsis etc) it is a great piece of software I've been running it for a couple of years now. Actually setup a PC for it as the nas was not powerful enough to transcode.

What's the deal with MKVs over the network? The media app can see various directories on my PC and play standard AVIs but not MKVs in those directories for some reason (it doesn't even display them). Could it be a codec issue even though I'm trying multiple files from different sources?

Cool, at least it's not just me. I thought I saw some on here during the preview of the release mentioning being able to view them...Is there a full Media Viewer app due (i.e. the current one says 'Media Viewer Preview')?

Wow being able to change the dash background is a small change but has a huge impact, you can set it with achievement art or a solid colour. Art didn't work so well has I couldn't find one that looked any good but when you set it to a solid colour like red it really pops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rolling out today on the XB1 preview program - add any image to your dashboard background, not just achievement art.

The development team have even made a template to help use prep an image for use.

I put a Destiny pic in the background of the template.
