    This the one?:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fly-Maggot-Killer-Net-Tex-sprays/dp/B007AG7ETC

I wonder why they say you can't use it on livestock?!

A lot of those products are designed for use inside the house , when you've flies going around the kitchen. I can remember them from the 80's before the sticky thing you hang from the ceiling were common.

Perhaps the statement get Amazon around some legal problem?
Of to prevent well meaning people from poisoning their dog or cat?

This is the stuff I saw.

    http://www.net-tex.co.uk/animal-health/sheep/insect-fly-repellents/fly-and-maggot-killer-spray

"Net-Tex Fly and Maggot Killer is a powerful, fast acting insecticidal spray formulated to kill most flying and crawling insects. Safe for using in food preparation and livestock, it destroys flies, mosquitoes, blowfly and maggots, etc.
    Packaging: 300ml Aerosol
    Product code 0603"

Not connected to the agridirect.ie crowd, except as a customer, but their price of 9.99 Euro seems keen compared to the Amazon price of 15 Sterling.

So once the sheep is infected, instead of soaking with dip, just spray this instead?

Well I wouldn't trust it that well!

You'd really need to be sure all maggots gone, sometimes only a run of the clippers would reassure you. Then spray. Haven't used that aerosol myself, sprayed with Ectofly.

Does the Ectofly last the full 8 weeks or how long do you usually get out of it

i would be paying close attention from 5 weeks onwards. but withdrawal period only 8 days, so you can keep on drafting lambs for sale.

I never was able to get any more than 4 weeks cover from ectofly, and always get at least 7 from clikzin. clikzin has 8 day withdrawal iirc.

Was going to get Ectofly today I asked what was the difference between this and click , he said the ectofly only works on the wool where it's spread where as the click gets into the blood stream travels all over the body and when the maggot hatch they are put off by the click and won't eat the skin

    From the website: http://www.farmanimalhealth.co.uk/sheep-clik#benefits_over_sheep_dip

    Click:

CLiK’s unique FleeceBind™ technology binds tightly to the grease in wool to give full body cover for a full 16 weeks.

    40 day meat withhold period

CLiK is not designed to cure existing strike so treat animals before an anticipated fly challenge.

CLiK can be applied to any length of wool so farmers can shear then treat shortly afterwards.

CLiK is effective on all classes of sheep and all wool types.

    Dry or damp sheep can be treated with a forecast period of dry weather for a few hours after application;

    Do not treat wet animals.

CLiK quickly binds to fleece and has been developed to be as rainfast as possible.

Make sure to give the right dose for the weight of animal. Weigh a few of the heaviest animals in the group and treat all to this heaviest dose.

If the spread of weights in the group is large, split into weight banded groups.

The aim of argument, or of discussion, should not be victory, but progress. Joseph Joubert

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It's to promote critical thinking.

one point to remember if using Clik or similar pour ons is not to use during sunny spells

if treating animals during warm sunny weather ( like we've had for last while )
it best to wait until evening time for best results
