Sticking brakes won't cause your MPG to drop to 4 from provably 40 ish expected.

Your spending 100 quid a week when a Tenner should cover you for what you drive. No brainer you should pay to get looked at by a decent mechanic.

I went to a different garage today and they said it could be my throttle body ?
So gonna get a replacement for a few days to see if that's the problem , its a second hand one but gonna see if that's the problem

my thoughts on throttle body is cutting out or over revving.take a spark plug out and if black mixture is out and possible cause lambda probe faulty.

to be honest....if your mechanic was any good he would be able to figure out what is wrong with the car.....you are not going to diagnose the problem over the internet. Your car could have a number of problems...air mass meter...lambda probe...air leak....and lots of other things. find yourself a decent mechanic, pay the couple of hundred quid to fix and save money on petrol. also this is doing your engine and catalytic converter no good. at the moment the petrol is possibly seeping pass the rings and mixing with your oil thinning it out, this could cost you a new engine... its also probably getting chucked out the exhaust and ruining your catalytic converter so it is in your best interest to bring it to a good mechanic asap and get it sorted
