Early Range Rover had a similar idea, except it was on a hinge and you had to flip it down manually.

As did the early Mini saloons!! You could drive with the boot lid open and the number plate would drop down

Yes, Ive seen the flip-down plate set up...just never the twin-plate set up :)

Nice. I was tempted to take one of my classic 4x4 out aswell but the salt would destroy them.

    Glasnevin. I thought it was broken down (open bonnet) but it had moved later on;

Nope. Just a normal run of the mill oven!

I see the mark of the Stonecutters on the bumper also, attach the stone of victory!

I hope not, it should be from a Belling or New World, best of British and all that.

I'm sure I read an article ages ago where it was standard practice for the British Army to use the grill...as a grill in the field (not sure if it was part of the spec issued by the BA to LR)

and to keep with the photos, here a couple of youngtimers in Greystones at the weekend.

The S124 used to be mine and sold twice since I sold it! It was lovely when I owned it!

I have to say it looked remarkably clean in the flesh - 7 seater too.

I thought that too (4-doors were only launched in '81), but it could well be a legit body swap - chassis and body should fit without mods, and the early bodies did corrode badly.

    However... :pac:

Very few legit body swaps knocking around... but there's plenty of 'engineers reports'.. especially the Disco

Nice Range Rover...may well be legit body swop.
Pity about the shabby reg plate!

Am I missing something, or does the import plate not signify that the "'re shell " was most likely done in the UK?
Far more chance of it being properly done there then here, to be honest.

It's quite possible the donor vehicle was imported. Its an older import with that low number.

Pic quality is a bit poor. When I got home I realised there was dust on the phone lens.

    Nice VW.
I never saw the year and make put on the plates like that before.
Nice touch leaving the UK plate on rear shelf.
