I agree that what the mods ask for within a thread can be seem bizarre at any given time but ignoring instructions is not acceptable behaviour and it spreads to other posters.

This is the crux of the issue imo.

People dont respond well to these as you put it bizarre instructions.

Could you clarify what you mean here? Or can you give examples. I'm trying to get my head around this to see how we can address it.

If people are treated with respect and not talked down to and if everyone uses common sense and judges each issue on its merits instead of a blanket one for all approach I think the place would be better for everyone.

I agree. I hope that with the changes we are implementing on this forum that this will happen.

I mentioned an example earlier in this thread. A tip was posted in the tips thread that the guy said came from the yard. The horse ran badly. The OP then posted an explanation from the same source explaining why the horse had disappointed. The mod gave him a yellow card and told him the thread was for tips only and the explanation should have been posted in the daily thread.

That didn't seem to make any sense to me as surely anyone who bet on the horse would be interested in the explanation but may well not have seen it in a completely different thread.

Ok, gotcha. I missed the context. I thought it was about general threads, didn't realise it was specifically the tips thread.

So what we can do is lay down what everyone agrees are the rules for the tip threads, and moderate according to these rules.

The OP may have meant other threads as well.

I would apply the same to the off topic thread.

Ok, I'm going to close this thread for now, I think it has served its purpose.

We will be back to you shortly, so watch this space.

Em, not this thread, obviously, but another thread.
