Definitely a positive sign if you are getting called for a 2nd interview. Years ago working in similar envioronment(another fast food chain) we used to get in applications all the time. Seem to be the same situation in retail outlets, I took in 7 CV's today in my current work place even though there are no vacancies advertised. I managed to get my place on the first interview. Other people would also have taken in CV's today.

I had applied for a similar role to the OP online in one of the Dublin Branches of Mc Donalds but heard nothing back. There were only advertising full-time permanent positions in that particular case, the fact that I would be going back to college in september must have thrown them.

Ah well happy in my position.
