    I did 15 honours subjects. I got 1500 points.

    I was so busy studying I forgot to return my CAO form though.

    It's not about the points, it's about where you rank on a percentile curve based on points achieved. 80th percentile reporting in :cool:

    Currently working on a postdoc in Maths, I am applying for a teaching position which requires me to confirm on the application form that I achieved at least a 'C' in Junior Cert Mathematics, and there is a note at the bottom of the page to say that documentary proof may be required.
    I have no documentary proof :-/ If it weren't for the money, it would be amusing to be turned down for the position on "mathematical" grounds.

    And to think they said the JC would never matter...

    In my day the maximum was 32 points (mid 80s)

    A=5 (Maths +2)
    B=4 (Maths +1)
    C=3 (Maths+1)
    D=2

    We could also sit the NUI Matric exam and mix and match for points (no bonus points for Matric Maths).

    Sound crazy but Medicine was about 25/26 points (500/520 in today's money)

    I got a solid 21 points

    How did it affect your life?

    It allowed me gain entry to my chosen course in university. Since then it has had zero impact.

    How did it affect your life?

    The points I got got me into a course that I thought I wanted to do. I was wrong, but I changed course and stayed in the college, did a few extra-curricular things, and found the person who I married last year.

    Actually Vito what course did you end up studying? Don't think I ever found out what most of the leaving cert forum regulars went on to study because I didn't read anything following the results that morning.

    570.

    I have a freakishly good long-term memory, which was probably my saving grace seeing as I spent half my time daydreaming.

    Aimed for 400, got 405. Needed them to get into my course and since then they have done nothing.

    540, iirc.

    Came down to having a good memory, because I'm not particularly intelligent.

    It did feck all for me. I studied Environmental Science, hated it, left.

    Now, I'm going back to college in September, and my points don't matter a jot because I'm 25.

    440.... For all the good it did me! I think I could have done better if I actually out some work in. Which is probably why I crashed out of my degree.

    Just below 400 which is about average.

    Average sums up my whole existence which is o.k. with me.

    300 and something. In my defence, I did study for it at the time by playing my way through Final Fantasy 8 on the PS1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,202 ✭✭✭✭Pherekydes

    Nuttin'. Zero. A big fat duck egg. A washout. I didn't do it! :pac:

    I left school at 17 after 4 years of secondary and joined the army. I can't even claim an 'A' in Inter cert maths. But I can (could) hit a bullseye at 300m. :D

    Five billion.

    We didn't have points at all. You needed honours in particular subjects to enter courses. A grades were as rare as hen's teeth in those days too.
