lost license

mate has lost/cant find his .22 license,(plonker)he last used it 3 weeks ago to buy ammo,within that 3 weeks he has had his renew notice,filled it ingot the go ahead,,paid,and got the new one,so does he need to report the loss/misplacement of the old one?he is almost sure the wife burned it during a spring clean,but is also worried that if he did indeed lose it,someone could use it to buy ammo,so any advice please,thanks all;)

If he has gotten the new license, renewal, then the old license is invalid. So any dealer should check the date on the license.

Even if he had not lost it and tried to use an out of date license the dealer should refuse to sell ammo, etc. as he is not licensed. It'd be a different story if the license had time to run, but as it's expired i wouldn't worry.

Think of it this way. He gets his renewal and throws out the old license. Someone finds it it in the rubbish bin and tries to use it. Same thing as above, the dealer should check the date/details and seeing it's out of date refuse to sell.
