It's gonna be even more annoying next year watching the English press lap up Mourinho hinting at his own "genius" tactics/mindgames etc. when in reality Steve Staunton could probably have a good shot of winning the league as gaffer of that squad.

Just on Rakitic, I'll hold my hands up and admit this is the first time I've seen him play. First impressions though is that his style of play is quite ugly, hasn't got up to much bar a few cynical fouls.

I thought he was impressive tbh , so calm and composed on the ball & along with Modric is keeping Croatia ticking over nicely. He had one poor pass where he tried chipping over a Brazilian to reach a Croatian but apart from that he's been faultless imo.

He is playing quite deep, usually he's more of a No 10.

I was certainly a fan prior to the Confederation Cup. He was woeful in the final so went completely off him. He is certainly on a downward trajectory but not convinced national team plays to his strengths.

Hopefully Lovren will be looking for Liverpool rather than anyone else, we're assuming he wants to play for us but its not certain.

Lovren is an instant upgrade on anyone we have at CB. Ive been arguing his case for years now. Light years ahead of Skrtel and 5 years younger.

By all accounts nearly all newspapers have run with it. He handed in a transfer request on May 30th when Southampton didn't get back to him about his future at the club.
