AH pilgrims, I suppose Im looking for this thread to make me feel less guilty of being a gluttonous pig and ordering a takaway for the second time this week ;)

To be fair to my guilty conciousness Id usually only order one every two months or so, so this week is an exception.

How often do you order takeaway? Pizza, Chinese, Indian or whatever?

    Poll to be added with:

    Every two months
    Every three months
Once or twice a year max

I'm a big Bill Murray fan.

The ould chinese have been called and the delivery is on the way.

A couple of cold heinekens in the fridge with some squirt porn and a poker game lined up.

Its gonna be a sweet friday

I should have added "how much do you weigh?" choices beside certain poll options :pac:

Almost never, partly because my nearest takeaway is a bit far. Would have the odd ready meal though, maybe once a month max, when anything more than sticking a fork in some cellophane and opening the microwave is just too much effort :)

About once every six months (usually Thai) - greasy "Chinese" food aka rubber chicken in a black/brown/Amber sludge makes me lose my appetite and I make my own curries which I prefer to any take away.

I can't even stomach dominoes anymore

As a matter of fact, just having some Chinese take away. Special fried rice and salt & pepper chicken. Mmmmmm :D

I get a craving for ****ty takeaway or pizza or kebab or something every now and then, usually if drunk or hungover but my past life means I have the ability to cook better st home and usually in a shorter time than a delivery would take so besides the odd kebab while steaming I'd say I eat take away once or twice per year.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 108 ✭✭BearBanjer

Used to be onc or twice a week. Eating much better nowadays and you cook things that are a lot nicer and healthier than the junk you get in most takeaways. They're a rip off too.

Love a bit of Japanese (eating out) or some pizza (delivery) every now and then though.

I have poutine a couple of times a week and a chinese dinner (fried rice, steamed broccoli and orange chicken) a couple of times a week.

Indian take away is not junk food

About once a fortnight. Never pizza, just Chinese, Thai or Indian.

    Once a month probably.

Just after ordering a pizza there now. It's my first takeaway of the year.

I would usually have one every three months depending on the circumstances.

Never, too expensive most of the time and by the time you sit down and eat it you'd have made something nicer yourself.

If I am paying to eat I'd rather get something better than a takeaway.

30 years after my first sweet and sour chicken balls from the Vietnamese guy in Sutton, I discovered the joys of chow mein this week!

I remember my very first Chinese take away, West Belfast, c1986, steak and chips.

There is a lovely Indian takeaway near us so I'd have one about once every fortnight. I rarely eat chipper food but it is lovely to have a piping hot salty bag of chips at the seaside so I'll indulge now the weather is improving. As for Chinese food it makes me want to puke so never.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,691 ✭✭✭Lia_lia

I'd say maybe 3 or 4 times in my life :o

Since moving into this house I'm in now we have ordered a take-away once. I just don't really like fast food. If I'm home anyway I'd be able to cook nicer food myself. And we never ordered take-aways growing up. The Mother is a chef...and wouldn't allow that sort of thing!

I didn't really realise how often people ordered take-aways until they started talking about it at work recently. Some people order them up to 3 times a week

Never get chipper, would get indian/Thai/pizza semi often though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,819 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Two spice bags a week (have to stop) and I'd probably get smoked cod chips every now and then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭Davarus Walrus

I ordered an Indian from Bombay Pantry about a month ago. Based on all the overwhelmingly positive reviews I'd heard about the place. If soggy starters, main courses with loads of gee and very little meat, and a load of regretful slop is your thing; then I'd recommend you check it out.

    Going DIY from now on.

    What's a spice bag?

Salt & Chilli chips and Salt & Chilli chicken combined in a bag. Its very tasty and I wish I never found it;)

Its not on paper menu but Its advertised in the restaurant and on justeat.

I'm pretty bad, usually 2-3 times a week. Italian is what I usually order most. It's just so convenient, delivered within 15 mins and not much more expensive than if you were to buy the ingredients and cook it yourself, but obviously not as healthy!

The apps make it so easy to order and pay, I often order while on the way home and follow their tracker on maps so I know when they will get to my house.

Have to be kebab/general chippy food. Chinese and Indian always gives me the worst stomach pains :(

About once a month. He gets chippy food - chicken/double cheeseburger, chips & peas, onion rings. Two sausages for the dog! :D

I get Chinese from the restaurant opposite. It's the only decent ethnic takeaway in Cork. They do a wicked aromatic lamb with lots of chillis. Used to get fish from the chippy, but after a bad experience once, I haven't touched it since...

It used to be about once a week. But about 6 months ago I decided to cut it down and I only have one about once a month now

I'm a never. I live quite rural with not one decent deliverable takeaway near me. But I have learned to adjust. I make my own pizzas - do a great lemon chicken - tasty singapore noodles - shredded duck and pancakes etc - the thing is needs must - also it doesn't take that long to cook up what you fancy and I probably cook stuff with less salt, sugar and fat. (well maybe ;) )

Once a week. Friday is my no cooking day. I alternate between pizza and an Indian of a Friday evening with a few beers.

Never got a take away til I was in collage. People thought this was weird. Our nearest take away to us at home was 16 miles away, so getting chinese or pizza delivered to your door was all new to me when I left home! ( my housemate had to demonstrate how to order a pizza)

These days id have a take away once a month. Mainly pizza and share it round between us. Do remember one housemate from years ago ordering 2 take aways in one night!

    -too far away.
-even if it were near could not afford it.
    - prefer to know what i am eating.
    -do not like foreign food.
    -no interest in takeaway.

Well I think last night's Chinese will be my last ever or at least for a very long time.

Rubbery chicken and "beef" does not a healthy diet make! A shame because the place I ordered from is normally very good.

To the four people who chose "every night", are you off your fúcking rocker?!

Usually once a fortnight, this week has been really sh**ty so twice this week. Chinese Monday, pizza Thursday. But we don't usually do that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,150 ✭✭✭✭Malari

About twice a year. We get chips on Valentine's day and might get a pizza New Year's day or some night over xmas when we've been out late! Never order in though, always go out and pick it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,455 ✭✭✭weemcd

Once or twice a week, usually traditional chipper for some chicken and chips, the odd pizza, McDonalds for a quarter pounder. Used to love Indian but I don't think there are any really good Indian takeaway's near me atm, could murder a rogan josh or a nice bhuna if I was in the mood for one. I lived on chicken pakora and chips a few years ago.
