    There are four different types:
    1. Ammo dealer
    2. Unrestricted
    3. Restricted
    4. Airsoft/Replica

The first two are basically the same thing but different levels of security.
    1. An ammunition dealer is really aimed towards ranges where the operator can sell rimfire and cartridges only. They cannot sell, hold or deal in firearms of any nature.
    2. An unrestricted firearms dealer has the same properties as an ammo dealer but can also deal in any firearm not deemed restricted. They pay a larger license fee, and must have a higher level of security than an ammo dealer.
    3. A restricted firearms dealers is the exact same an unrestricted dealer, but they pay a higher fee and must have a higher level of security. They may deal in all ammo, all firearms whether restricted or not.
    4. An airsoft dealer is a new thing and honestly i'm not 100% on what it involves other than registration with the DoJ. They may only sell airsoft or imitation/replica guns.

In all instances you must submit an application to the DoJ, and take no action in terms building a shop/renting a premises, installing security, etc. until you receive word from the DoJ.

    The fees are (3 years)
    1. €75
    2. €1,00
    3. €1,500
    4. Unknown

as for what would stop you becoming one. Well other than the capital and other business issues it's much like owning a gun. You must have a clean record, and fulfill all other criteria.

    Have a read through this.
