Asking 1300 for a 2001 with (short) test but nice colour. :)

Looking for one of these at the moment, other than front arm bushes and joints ( and rust) is there any other gotchas on these? The engine on this is the ok-ish M111 I think

I'll take your 01 C Class with short test and raise you a 02 E Class with new test :-) Could do with a valet though.

    Why Singapore?

Nice that there's no MPH on the speedo though.

Pretty sure a garage near the red cow used to bring in loads of 3 and 5 series autos from Singapore.

It would be right to say here: "The car runs on fumes".

Is the reg not a bit low for an import, it would have had to be imported at less than a year old.

Edit... Missed the February NCT date, it's an import. Didn't think there was that much of a drop off in sales between 00 and 02, I had an 8xxxx sequence 00 which was registered in July IIRC

Spotted that, and liked this one too:

    2001 E-Kompressor Cork

If its not eaten underneath, they are a lot of car for the cash.

The instrument cluster is different than other e39's though not only just the speedo in KM's but also the different details on the LCD display.

Gonna go see this tomorrow having been driving a 00 for a while I think I'd be ok with checking how it drives

Does recent nct indicate no rust issues?

Will talk to mechanic beforehand anyway

Stheno, would you mind posting a quick report on it? It would be interesting to see what you think.

Having an NCT just means that the car wont kill you, there could be enough rust under it to kill it in 12 months, but if its that bad it should be down as an advisory. Maybe im just too much of an old skeptic!! :pac:

Weren't these made during the worst days of Daimler-Chryslers' attempts to save money by cutting corners?

Good find if it's a good one though.

No Stheno an nct is not a guarantee that it's rust free. If your interested in the car inspect it well for any rust. The underbody, arches, and the suspension towers and other relevant areas need to be checked.

So much car for the money. Drove this today and it is exceptional. Autobox changes smoothly and sport mode livens up it up no end. Full history and has been looked after. Body needs some polishing, some marks on drivers door. Havent 'dropped the sump' but as its an Aero ( which always specced fully synth) I dont think sludge is an issue.

If the wife wasn't insisting on a merc, I would have bought it there and then. NCT till October. It will need rear discs soon enough, but otherwise.. Oh My God!!

    €1250 NCT 04/16

I like these though white isn't the best colour IMO, very reliable too and has a brand new NCT as well.

Something a bit different that should be got for €2000, NCT till August. Corolla/Starlet mechanicals, so that shouldn't be a problem.

One for the Starlet fetishists ( ye dirty yokes)

    40970712.jpeg

Lack of plate in photo is worrying, but looks clean, and claims long NCT. 950 euros

    I probably would.

So essentially you took this car for a test drive with no intention of buying it?

My wife hadn't driven a saab ( apart from my old 9-3 convertible), so I thought she might be convinced by it. She tried an auto C-class as well, and prefers that. Up to that, she was keeping an open mind about the make/model.

So, essentially, thats it. Make of it what you will.

Very nice ad indeed. I can honestly say it's one of the best I've seen on DoneDeal. No mention of NCT though, so I guess your Alfa belongs in the fixerupper thread. :P

In that case the MG is practically free. NCT AND TAX until 2016 for €950 on a 2004 car.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,438 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

It is a 1.8 K series. Not to sound like every person on the internet ever, but

Head gasket, head gasket etc etc

If it doesn't give you issues for a year, it's still well worth the money. Sell it on for scrap money afterwards.

That's hoping the car sees out the duration of the nct and tax.

The short nct and high tax  bill wouldn't sway many punters hence the price. It's still a lot of car for the money.
