Have you ever walked out of the cinema during a movie?

I went to see Calvary last night and about 40 minutes into film two people got up and left. now, I enjoyed the movie myself (thought Brendan Gleeson was great in it) but have actually walked out on another movie myself only a month ago. The film in question was the so called comedy The Stag, another Irish flick. Didnt find any of the characters likeable, hated the phoney accents of a few of the cast and didn't get one solitary laugh.

Have you ever walked out during a screening? Have you ever seen multiple people do the same? Ever been bould enough and asked for a refund? Your stories please.

Yep, I walked out of Wedding Crashers. What a terrible movie and worse cast.

Walked out of get him to the greek, and the counsellor

The counsellor! Seriously. Biggest load of sh!te I have ever seen. wtf!
I thought it would be cool action stuff not sitting around bitching about women and then women being bitchy with no explanation of how these random characters even knew each other or why they would be socialising when they clearly didn't know each other or like each other waaaat

Yes I did........ But that was because my idiot brother went to my house opened my front door and let my girlfriends new puppy run out the door so we had to spend the night chasing the puppy around the bloody town :D

Walked out about 30 minutes in to Battle: Los Angeles. Quite possibly the worst film I've ever paid to see.

    Never.

Highly tempted though during Pearl Harbour, and Raising Cain.

Saw 'My Own Private Idaho' in the UCI in The Square back in the day. At least 75% of the audience had walked out before it had ended, including one yoke that got up, bellowed 'JAYSSSIIIISSS, RIVER PHOENIX IS GAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!' in the most skanger accent of all time, then stalked out.

Not me but myself and the missus were in a fairly quiet Swords Pavillions late night screening of Death Proof. About 12 couples in total at the start, just the two of us left at the end. 4 couples left after the first crash scene (you'll know it if you've seen it), the rest at other intervals. I loved it though!

Personally, I always stay until the bitter end, just in case something crucial happnes. FOMO.

    Don't think I have.

    Edit:
Just remembered I've fallen asleep once, while watching Immortals.

Never if the movie is bad I just have a quick nap, Cinemas haves some comfy seats

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,012 ✭✭✭Plazaman

Never walked out but did fall fast asleep once (Shakespeare in Love). Woke up covered in popcorn with film over, cinema empty and one of the cleaner dudes with a mop standing over me saying "Hey buddy....buddy wake up....buddy....".

As I didn't buy popcorn I can only assume some little scamps threw it over me on their way out.

I nearly walked out of that Michael Moore film, about war and America, sorry can't remember the name. Every time cruelty and beatings were given out by Americans the whole theatre cheered and clapped.

    This was in Florida :(

Tropic Thunder. Hated it. I've seen it all the way through since, and I still hate it.

Almost, just almost, walked out of "Team America" ..

    Dreadful movie.

I slept almost the entire way through 127 Hours. I kept waking up and thinking "Yep, still trapped there..." and then going back to sleep. But it was freezing out and the cinema was warm and quiet, so I was content to stay there. Cinemas can be very relaxing.

I've only ever walked out of two, Pearl Harbour and Northern LightsThe Golden Compass, the former as it was incredibly boring and the latter due to it being an insult to the source material.

I walked out on Adam and Paul, just couldn't care less what happened to them by the end. Walked out on one of the scary movies as well, maybe 3. No explanation required for that one.

Guy in front of me got up and left Noah about an hour and a half into it last week. I've been jealous of his wisdom ever since....

I have never walked out of a movie.
I find it pointless after paying 10+ euro to see something. But I have stopped watching movies when at home. Thor 2 being one recently. Just wasnt doing anything for me despite really liking the first one.

But I guess when you get down to the nitty gritty if a movie took your money it succeeded. Could be utter crap. But from the entertainment side of things its really really bad when you have to switch something off.

I was escorted out a few times.

Twice, once at the premier of Transformers 2 (managed an hour, couldn't take any more) and once at the world premier of Antiviral at the Toronto International Film Festival, which is the worst movie I've ever seen (half of)

    *edit*

Three times, I forgot I went to see one of those crappy spoof movies, possibly Disaster Movie, when I was in Birmingham early before a Villa game and left after about 15 minutes

I cant believe the some of the walk outs, wedding crashers, get him to the greek and armageddon! while not the greatest movies of all time, are fairly decent and nowhere even close to walk out level IMO. The last one I walked out of and possibly the first ever was Identity Thief, I cant even summon the words to describe it, as in it was so bad, it was actually annoying. A mate does a walker on about 1 in 2 or 3 movies, we dont pay in, so isnt really the same though... Think my bro walked out on napoleon dynamite...

Transformers 2 actually left me angry, absolute septic tripe.
    Even Bay apologized for it.

I wanted to see Public Enemies, but the buds said no

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, what a really really bad film!

A friend of mine recommended that to me, for some unearthly reason. Had to walk out as well.

I wouldn't mind, but I was watching it in my own home.

    What an awful movie.

Never. I've only ever even considered it once and that was during Bridesmaids.

I actually wish I had left.
