Dermot O'Reilly's attempt at go raibh maith agat was hilarious. Switched over after that.

You'd know it was an Irish crowd, the familiar yelp during O'Connor's monologue! :)

I'm looking forward to The Gloaming, Lisa Hannigan and Conor O'Brien. I'm not feeling this Paul Brady song though.

Does anyone know what Ceiliuradh means? I'm not asking for an answer, I just wonder how many Irish people know what it means!

Seeing those young people in the audience has made me feel sad :( As a daughter of an Irishman you could (have) seen Peaches Geldof at an event like this :(

    RIP Peaches Geldof

I love that song but they could have given him some backing music and whooped it up a bit more.

None. And the ones that are at it are trying to recreate the Ireland they left 70 years ago.

Heard someone say that the President had a big say in the celebration assume it was choosing who would perform etc so expect it to be a lot different to the awful one they put on when the Queen was in Ireland. Enjoying it so far. Great stuff. :D Sent relatives abroad the rte player link and they're all watching it too.

I hate the arm waving thing they are 'obliged' to do. In my day...creak...etc, we had to keep arms still. There is a happy medium, I think.

Why when you have a crowd diddly-eyeing do they kill the buzz and put on a "skin the corpse" song.....
