You'd need someone more up to speed on the legalities, but i believe it can get messy. I remember this came up a while ago and they were asked these two questions:
    • Does the policy holder (NARGC) cover guests?
    • Will they pay out or leave it to another insurance group (house, etc)?
Remember the NARGC will not be claimed off. Your mate's friend will sue him directly for any injury, etc. and so your mate will need to contact the NARGC in the event of a claim and ask if they cover it.

He would be better served asking the NARGC before going out on the assumption it's fine.

    http://www.nargc.ie/compensation-fund.aspx

Have a gander at this page, paying particular attention to the last few paragraphs.

' Membership of the Fund is limited to Members of Gun Clubs only and individual applications regretfully cannot be catered for. So when somebody joins a Gun Club, membership of the Fund and the availability of protection from it go hand in hand once the basic paperwork has been processed. '

....,if I showed him your link he'd talk his way around it :
No offence to your mate, but i have to laugh at people that would actually argue such things. I mean it's not a theoretical issue. If he makes a mistake and the compensation fund does not cover his mate then he will loose his home when his mate does sue.

Your mate can't claim off NARGC Insurance, first of all who own's the land the mate and his bubby are hoping to go onto, also are you a Member of a Club the reason I ask is.

    1. Anything that happens on the land your Friends buddy enter's onto, it will be the land owner that he will be claiming from, I dont thing the Friend will be shooting this land again should this happen.

    2. your Friend will of course have Insurance from as you said NARGC covering him and him alone.

    3. If it's a Club you and your Friend are Member's of, you should report this to the Club Secretary, he or she will deal with this.

Best of luck and with this years shooting and tell the Friend he is a fool.
