Hares are not a pest species. I suggest you check the legal situation regarding hunting them.

As for your request, I reckon you'd be better off knocking on farmers doors & asking for permission.

Correct. Hares and other game have a season and some can only be shot with certain types of firearms:

Door knocking is, and has always been, the best bet.

Hares out of season require a section 42, criminal activity hunting them without one out of season.

You don't all have to comment on this I'm not looking for info on shooting hares I'm looking for land so unless you want to give me land to shoot on don't comment

With an attitude like that good luck getting any permission round here...

The posts above could be very helpful

    1. Because you didn't seem to know hare had a season

    2. Telling you how everyone else here usually gets permission

So you don't care about the seasons really? With an attitude like that I wouldn't bother knocking on doors. It's a discussion forum not an advertisement page

Where did he say he wanted to shoot hares out of season, he didn't say when he was going to shoot them.

Exactly never once said I was going to shoot hares or anything out of season. I fully intend on knocking in doors of my neighbours but just thought I would throw it up here to advertise it and maybe someone would see it and want and appreciate me shooting across there lands which I would be more than happy to do cause the more land the better

He did before he edited his post where he reckoned they were "pests" same as foxes & bunnies. If you look at his original post in post #2, where I quoted his you'll see it ;)

With an attitude like that best of luck getting permissions

Sure if nothing else he's learned that hares are not a pest and while we're at it I'll advise him that they can not be hunted with a rifle at any time IIRC. They can only be shot with a shotgun, in season or under a section 42 and there are places where they cannot be shot at all, the "Slobs" in Wexford IIRC.

The first post read like this:
Anyone looking for pest control on there land in the fingal area. I will hunt rabbits, hares and foxes. I am fully insured and will do it free of charge as I am also looking for more land to shoot upon.
Now compare it to the edited post:

The OP stated that rabbits, foxes AND Hares were pests. He received two posts from Dian Cecht and myself informing him that Hares have a season and to knock on doors. So they educated him and gave advice. The third post by Meathstevie told him how to go about shooting Hares out of season.

You specifically mentioned Hares as a pest species regardless of how you edited your post. You received replies as is the reason for the forum with advice and information. Instead of being grateful for being told something you obviously did not know or simply admitting you made a mistake by including Hares as a pest species you took it as a personal attack, and then continued to derail your own thread by back seat modding with:
