Great bunch of lads and well deserving of the support. Won't make Sunday as it clashes with the hurling but will be down for future matches this season.

Btw someone selling tea down there would make a killing if the temperatures experienced last year are repeated....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭decies

No problem. Hope to see a good crowd anyway to cheer on the lads.

In a tough Competitive fixture the Waterford Wolves were beaten 12-6 by the Dublin Dragons. Ryan Byrne retuned the ball to the house for the touchdown for the Wolves. Thanks to all who came out to support the lads much appreciated.

The Waterford Wolves travelled up to Seapoint rugby club Sunday more in hope than in expectation. The first half was a very competitive affair with the Wolves scoring a rushing TD by their QB . In the second half the experience and pure strength of the Rebels came to the fore , and they ran out winners 22-6. This was a good performance by the wolves against the 7 times national champions and the score doesn't tell the whole storyline . Next up its the Waterford Wolves home to the North Kildare Reapers at the RSC may 18, KO 2pm.All are welcome.

Was i correct in hearing that the pitch wasn't even lined? I know the Wolves have set an extremely high standard with the marvelous work by the groundskeeper in the RSC, but going by the live stream it sounded like there weren't any lines, or at the least line markers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭decies

Correct at least you should have markers down. Disappointed too that the home team had no fans there to speak off. Goes to show how great local people here are to come out and support the Wolves. Thanks for listening.

That shouldn't have been allowed imo. A forfeit on behalf of the Rebels would have been in order! :D

On a wet and sometimes miserable afternoon the Waterford Wolves went down to 68/0 defeat to the North Kildare Reapers . There was just no stopping the Reapers running game who just racked up the points willy nilly. Credit to the supporters who turned up on the day and cheered on their local American Football team.

The Wolves travelled to Limerick to face UL Vikings more in hope than in expectation last Sunday. It what proved a tale of turnovers and mistakes Waterford Wolves went into the break down 28/0. The second half the wolves defence tightened up considerably and even got on the scoreboard thanks to a brilliant running TD by Wolves QB Ryan Byrne. Final score from Limerick, UL Vikings 35-6 Wolves. Next Game for the Wolves June 15th at the RSC 2pm home to Trinity College.

Waterford Wolves started off brightly against Trinity and were unlucky not to score first , indeed they probably had the best of the first quarter which ended 0-0. After that the strength and experience of Trinity came to the fore and they ran out the winners by 36-0 . Next game is June 29th at home to UL Vikings. Big thanks to everybody who turned up for last Sundays game.

A large crowd turned up to the RSC to see the Waterford Wolves American Football team play the UL Vikings. The Wolves were very competitive in the First Half which saw the Vikings take a 7-0 lead into the break. Sadly the old friend Turnovers came back to haunt the Wolves leading to a Final Score of UL 27 Wolves 0. The Wolves head to Castleknock to take on the Rhinos. As usual this game will be live on Open Tempo Sports online from 1.30pm. On behalf of the Waterford Wolves a big thank you to those who supported the team by coming to the matches . Go Wolves!!!

The Wolves headed to castleknock Dublin to take on the West Dublin Rhinos last Sunday knowing a defeat would condemn them to relegation to IAFL 1. Two evenly matched teams fought a hard defensive battle with the Rhinos coming out on top 7-0. So a disappointing end to the season for the Wolves. One things for sure they will be back next year bigger and stronger. If you are interested in joining the Wolves for next years campaign please contact them on their facebook page or contact me here . Many Thanks.

A large crowd were at the RSC Sunday to cheer on the Waterford Wolves as they took on the Cork Admirals in a 2pm KO. While the sun shone brightly over head unfortunately lady luck did not shine on the wolves as the admirals were first to strike following confusion in the special teams unit. Under the guidance of Steve Hayes QB of the admirals, they soon managed to establish a strong passing game. Wolves did however get on the board following good work by Franklin Tchiofo to give 6 points to the Waterford side. Final score at the RSC Waterford Wolves 6 Cork Admirals 33. Next home game 19 April V Dundalk Mavericks. Podcast of Game here: http://opentemposss.podbean.com/e/cork-admirals-waterford-wolves-iafl-conference-1-22315/

A large crowd turned out today to cheer on the Waterford Wolves in a sun drenched RSC as they took on the Dundalk Mavericks . The Mavericks got off to a flying start when a great run by their QB lead to a 70 plus rushing TD. Not to be outdone the Wolves heads weren't bowed and they fought back bravely following a interception by DB Ryan Byrne lead to a TD 7/7. The Mavericks took the lead again thanks to good work by their QB. Following a great throw by Ryan Byrne to Mark Dunphy Wolves levelled it up 14/14. Then with time running out in the game Mark Dunphy had a 23 yard FG to win it which he duely obliged . . Final score at the RSC Waterford Wolves 17 Dundalk Mavericjks 14. Let's go Wolves!!

Waterford Wolves and their fans travelled the long road to Mullingar Sunday to take on the Minotaurs. Wolves got off to bright start following a brilliant rushing TD by Ryan Byrne and the extra point by Mark Dunphy . They soon followed that up by good work by Brian Sullivan for another rushing TD , the extra point attempt was blocked to leave Wolves leading 13/0. Some good play by the minotaurs QB lead to a converted TD. Going into the half the Wolves lead 13/7. As the game went on the Mullingar outfit started to figure it out more, putting the Wolves defense under severe strain. Following good work by Lee Butler the Waterford Lads held out for the W and go 2/2 for the season. Let's go Wolves.

The 3/2 Wolves travelled to Mahon outside Cork to take on the undefeated 5/0 admirals more in hope than expectation last Sunday. The weather was bright and sunny but that was as good as it got for the Waterford outfit .
The Admirals QB was in electric form and two early TD's meant the wolves were on the back foot straight away. The admirals continued to have succes through the air leading to a 32/0 HT SCORE. The wolves defence improved in the second half as the Admirals tried to run the ball instead of throwing it. Some good possessions followed for the Wolves put they couldn't get the breakthrough the improved performance deserved . The Admirals began to assert themselves later in the game and this time managed to run the ball into the end zone. Final score Admirals 45 / Wolves 0. Next up Sunday week ,wolves last game at home to the Tyrone Titans.

From the very first series of plays Wolves QB Ryan Byrne connected with Mark Dunphy for a 35 yard TD. The kick was good wolves led 7-0. The Wolves and their loyal legions of fans made the long trip to Dundalk last Sunday to take on the Mavericks knowing that win and they would be going to the playoffs . The Mavericks had the best defence in the league and points were going to be at a premium .And that's how it turned out under leaden skies the wolves offence struggled to break down a resilant Dundalk outfit . No score at half time , during which the weather deteriorated and thunder and lighting forced the teams off for over a hour . After the resumption the wolves offence eventually got going . A field goal attempt was then converted by Mark Dunphy to give the Waterford outfit a 3/0 lead. Late in the game the Mavericks had a FG attempt which went wide left . Final score wolves 3 mavericks 0. Wolves end their regular season with a 5/3 record and are on to the playoffs where they will be away in Tyrone or Navan.

I tried watching the Superbowl once. Watching a bowl of soup would have been more interesting. What is exciting about a sport where everyone dresses up like Michelin men, and takes a break for ads every five minutes? I hope the live game is a bit better than that.
