What on earth are you talking about?! ECT has the effect of raising the mood or ending a manic phase. No brainwashing involved. The side effects are memory loss and headaches. No mysterious thought manipulation.

It can be done against your will in cases where it's hopefully going to be life-saving. It's clearly better than the alternative.

That woman was an amazing ambassador for mental health. I hope people heard her message.
