Shine a light down. That'll scare them off.

It's called poaching if that's what they're at. You should at least notify the Gardai and NPWS and make all info you have available to them.

Iwas out feeding my dog's at 9'ish i was late home. I heard down behind my house. Taught must be someone after foxes. Then a few min's later i hear two Duck callers in action followed by a shot' and a min later caller's again and a shot. I was letting the dog out later and again heard a shot and this was 11.15 yes 11.15.

Would duck be moving that late at night though?

If that's what they're at they need to be reported, caught & prosecuted !

Shine a light down the field, fire 2 shots (in a safe direction). That should set them on the way.
Next day, a sign at water stating trespassers/poachers will be prosecuted and then warn guards/npws

Have you a trail cam handy??

Often used a duck caller to bring in foxes, sound of a stressed or injured duck at night the foxes can't rissest running up to it.

Never tried it myself but I imagine it would work.

Wigeon button whistle is the job!
Even better is a tenterfield whistle!!

Been using the "button" silver one for years on foxes, to great effect. It hardly sounds like a duck when used though, compared to some duck ones I've heard. Mind you, I've never used it to call widgeon so I'll have to assume it will actually call in widgeon. The widgeon one, to me, sounds like a bunny in distress.

Thinking of getting a tenterfield whistle. Anyone using them?
