Not a huge pizza fan because I don't like the frozen ones and I rarely order a takeway one, but last week I was late home and really wasn't in the mood for cooking, so I decided to try a pizza from Cinelli's pizza, Firhouse.

Wasn't expecting much, to be honest, but y'know what..it was lovely.
It tasted natural, if that's possible.
The crust was thin, the sauce was tomatoey and the toppings were just right.

I thought it was lovely and for €9 I'd definitely get it again.

The quiet, let your actions speak for themselves type of confidence is impossible to get across on a text based forum, instead you must speak with unyielding conviction about yourself and what you believe

There's confidence, then there is plain rudeness, putting down other people every second post to boost your ego and compensating for something. this is boards.ie, not bodybuilding.com...anyway, frozen pizzas yay!

15" from Apache is 9.99 and every bit as nice as Domino's. Dr Oetkers is the only nice frozen pizza but you dont get much for your buck.

    Dr Oetkers is septic!

Get thee to Aldi. Their frozen pizza range is called casa something (possibly casa mama) and it's great, better than doctor okter, which would have been my favourite previously. They also have this big rectangular pepperoni and pepper pizza that is so good

That's made me think... I wonder why they don't make square pizzas to fit the boxes?

Chicago town is rank altogether. Lidl make really nice non-frozen pizzas, they're pretty tasty.

Given up on all frozen pizzas now TBH.........M&S handmade stonebaked ones are in at the moment. Nothing fancy......just superior.

Pretty easy and cheap to make home made pizza and it tastes awesome.

As for shop ones. Dunnes do a range in cardboard box type cover for about a fiver that is nice, especially the goats cheese one.

    Funny you mentioned it.

Me and the missus made a home made pizza tonight. I was feeling lazy and wanted to order in, but we opted to making it from scratch:

    - 1 diced onion
    - 5-8 mushrooms
    - Tuna
    - Ham

had a tin of tomatoes and grated cheese already there. Herself made the base in 3-5 mins.

Took 10 mins of prepping and 18 in the oven.

Was absolutely amazing, nicer than any takeout pizza or 20 quid equivalent in a fancy restaraunt. And we had it on the plate quicker than we would if we'd have ordered. Guaranteed to be healtier too!

PS: Just replace the toppings here what I used with what you fancy yourself. It really will taste amazing, you'll realize how much yer being ripped off by buying the frozen kind, and the dominos 20 euro version is beyond the most profitable thing as far as food goes.. A pizza costs about 20 cent to make for these large companies, and less than a euro for those of us who make it at home!

so youre giving out recipies yet leaving out the bit which you cant just take out of the fridge and slice. have you considered a line of cookery books following this format, with key reciepies including

    apple tart:

    4 cooking apples
    sugar

get the missus to make the pastry 3-7min

    preparation, 6min

pop it in the oven for 36min, and sallys your uncle jeoffrey, fanny on a stick. *bing*

Usually have a frozen Pizza around once a week. Normally go for whichever one is on offer in supervalue and its often the standard goodfellas ones for 2.50, I find the spicy meat one nice although they are a bit small. I don't like the stuffed crust in the Chicago town ones. There are a few other decent ones mostly goodfellas ones too.

Nicest pizzas are ones from Italian restaurants, they are delicious. Dominos etc are only alright and expensive for what they are.

As for making them from scratch, I have pizza in order to exert absolutely no effort whatsoever, turn on oven, put in pizza and maybe wedges, set timer and watch tv until it beeps. Making it myself would defeat the purpose as it would be more effort than I put into a normal dinner.

Don't particularly like Domino's and Apache is awful. There's a crowd called Base WFP that are delicious but pretty expensive.

    Agree with this though.

Tough to do this, yeast has to activate then you have to let it rise for a while. You also get flour everywhere. You can buy pre-made bases though, they're overpriced for what they are but better than ordering in.

Have to also vote for the aldi pizzas - particularly their specially selected range.

Genuinely the base tastes quite fresh, not cardboardey like the goodfellas ones. Decent ingredients.

For take away pizza I always liked Mizzoni's.

The ultimate pizza competition winner is the Independent Pizza Company in Drumcondra - amazing!

Chicago Town is straight up and down the worst pizza I've ever eaten. Honestly, those cheap mini-pizzas that Tesco sell are better.

Chicago Takeaway pizzas are decent, i usually get a New Yorker on a Friday evening. U can eat it straight off the cardboard cooking tray as well, save washing up. Aldi have a new range now, similar to the Dr Oetker Ristorante pizzas, they're quite nice. Iceland pizzas are the worst I've had.

I think the Chicago Town Pepperoni is pretty much the best out there. Supervalu do a non-frozen Italian branded one that's good too. As a few others have pointed out, Lidl's are terrific value and very good.

The new Dr Oetkers are one of the tastier options out there. New product so they are flogging them for €2 as well. I get the mozzarella one and cover it in peperoni I have.

    I hope the OP's 'bird' didn't put out for a 6 euro pizza, there's a cheap date and a cheap date:D

Goodfellas deep pan isn't bad when something quick and painless is needed - but most frozen pizza is muck...

Got a 14 inch meat lovers pizza from Robertos in Sligo on Saturday evening with the intention of having a couple of slices that evening and having lovely cold pizza for lunch on Sunday. It was delish and much better than the bigger chains. So delish unfortunatley, that I ate the lot on Saturday......by myself......in one sitting :(

On the plus side, I have calculated that I won't have to eat again until 16th March @ 2.45pm.

Had the bird over and we decided to order a pizza, then we saw that domino's charge 20€ for a large pizza and remembered we're not mental.

Naturally we decided to put on a frozen pizza, it was a chicago town takeaway special or something along those lines. Watery sauce, unsubstantial meat portions and a cardboard crust. And to top it off it was nearly 6€.

Anyway, when I decide to eat carbs again in 6 months or so I'd prefer not to repeat this experience.

I'm sure there's quite a few of you that think frozen food has a place in a balanced diet, I'd appreciate if one of you could step in with a recommendation for me. Is it possible to buy from tesco and get that takeaway taste?

Amateur hour up in this forum

I always buy a deep pan Goodfella's Cheese Pizza. The I always take the toppings from my fridge (Ham/chicken/sweetcorn etc) and put on as much as I want. Then I always cover it with some extra grated cheese to hold it all together.

    Sorted.

    (You may commence applauding)

Has anyone tried the cheeseburger pizza from Pizza Hut? I'm tempted by it, more out of morbid curiosity than anything.

    Good article on it below:

I used to love Dominos until last January. :( I was away on a fieldtrip and was staying in a B&B. I got back late one of the nights and wasn't bothered going out for dinner so I decided to order in Dominos. Everything was grand until I woke up at 2 o clock in the morning dying of thirst. I had drank all my water, so I just told myself if I go to sleep, it'll be morning in no time and I can get water at breakfast. I didn't last too long and out of desperation I boiled water from the tap in the toilet and proceeded to make 5 cups of tea to help quench the thirst. (I know some people would just drink water straight from a tap in shower/toilet room, I personally wouldn't, hence the boiling). I was wired for the rest of night, couldn't sleep a wink. I also burnt my mouth with the fecking tea, I couldn't get it into me quick enough. Fecking Dominos.

I still have flashbacks of that night with no water. :( What do they put in them pizzas, a packet of salt or something? I haven't had Dominos since and it used to be my favourite cheat meal. :(

The real fun would start if it was a square pizza in a round box.

I like Aldi pizza. Carlos or something.
