    Yup.

Legally they have 3 months. Lately i've noticed from my own waiting, and that of a few friends that are also waiting on licenses, that due to man power shortages license applications are slow at the moment. You never know, i t may come quicker.

It depends on the part of the country you are in and what way the wind is blowing, I was waiting 9 months first licence, 6 weeks second, 8 months third and about 6 months for the fourth etc.... They are very slow where i am lol.

I'm waiting on a substitution. That is when you exchange one gun for another of similar build, design, caliber, etc. I juts got the call tonight that it is being done. However a sub only should take 14 (working) days).

My usual waiting time is approx 3-4 weeks however i've been blessed with FOs that are on the ball and sound as a pound. Good guys, and easy to get on with/work with.

Got my. 22lr approval notification yesterday, first time I ever got one a otification, but I think it was more to tell me the mod had been refused.

Not overly bothered about the mod on the 22, but I have one for the 243 and will be interesting to see if I get it retained at renewal.

The reasons for the refusal of the mod for the 22 was public safety and that the general public needed to be aware of where the noise was comming from.

The same reason for denying would not stand up for the 243 though as still a he'll of a bang from it with the mod on, bit I have a feeling will be given the same argument.

Nearly 5 month wait to sub a 22 for a .17 hmr. I put a .223 application in last month still waiting on that

All my renewals take about 8 weeks. Got my first 243 app in just under 3 weeks.

With out sounding like a dick its gonna toe as long as it takes. Give it about 10 weeks and then inquire if its not back. But patience is a vertue especially when it comes to firearms apps and even hunting its self.

Hope it doent take to long for you doe.

Like the lads said anywhere out to 3 months, it normally takes 4 to 6 weeks for me.
Maybe spend your time waiting educating yourself about all things shooting and the terminology used. Practice calling fox and get to know your shooting grounds inside and out. That way when the rifle is in your hands you waste no time:)

Best of look with the application and rifle lad hope it comes through soon, what you pick up and what optic do you plan on mounting?

Thanks lad I know the grounds very well as I'd do a good bit of shooting with my fathers under and over last 2 3 years but rifles are new enough to me shot s friends 17hmr and another's .204 but as far as optics come I'd be clueless any ideas what would work well with a savage axis .223

Optics is a mine field. But it all comes down to budget.
I use a hawke sidewinder myself grand scope and great with recoil it holds zero on my 243 anyway. That can be bought for 400 new but there is plenty of budget scopes that will most certainly do the job.

About 18 months last time round, which sort of put me off buying for a few years.
New application in for a 7mm Rem nearly 2 months ago. So wait and see.

OK, a nice surprise today to receive the license for a new rifle :), in 7mm Rem Mag. Was not expecting it as was away when the approval arrived, my better half had just paid it and sort of forgot to mentioned it.

So approval was issued in well less than 2 months.
