Ah, but that was during the war of independence. Sean South wasn't even born during the war of independence...

He was killed by the RUC during an IRA raid on their station in Fermanagh.

So who decides which category of terrorist is noble enough to have a bridge or place named after them?

the name terrorist can be used to describe many people, bush, thatcher, south, regan etc etc it depends who you concider to be one.....sean south was not a terrorist in my opinion and is deserving of his city paying tribute to him.
funny thing is that many of those who call him a terrorist will have at one time sang the song about him in some pub somewhere in a drunken state.
Barstool republicans is a name used for those people.

anyway lets get back to the topic of the thread,,naming or renaming the bridge
leave it as is or name it after some limerick champion or character.
how about the do do reddan bridge or as i suggested before the peace bridge.

Seán South would be a great name for the bridge. Give those Councillors their answer on the door steps.

Why not leave everything as it was?

Leave it as it is. No need to change the name of the bridge, end of story.

Can't wait to hear about how one of the councillors will have to make a few trips to the US to meet the Kennedys to discuss the naming and the possibility of one of them coming over for the unveiling.
