I actually paused "The Imposter" halfway through to look it up to see if it was really based on a true story, couldn't believe it

Hoop dreams, set in the early 90s and it’s about 2 young Chicago high school kids trying to make it as basketball players, more a socio economic look at their life and the difficulties of getting out of that situation. Very good

Anyone know of a good documentary outlining the 1916 rising all the way up to the partitioning of the island?
Would love to find something with a modern take but there just doesn't seem to be any interest in this type of history from the major broadcasters.

Before Vice became total garbage they did an excellent documentary on North Korea. He sneaks into the country and get's a first hand account of the propaganda while pissing off the tour guards, he even manages to get them drunk.

Loved the Eagle Huntress, now her Dad was a total gem

Anyone watch Wild, Wild Country? A new 6 parter on Netflix about an Indian guru and his followers who leave India and set up a commune in America in the early 80's. I watched the first episode last night and it was pretty good. But it seemed to have a lot of filler, like a lot of netflix shows. All of episode 1 could have been condensed into 10 minutes I reckon.

God I had completely forgotten this. Really great. The same director did another doc called Stevie about a guy he met as a child through the big brother program. The chap in question did some awful things. His background and upbringing is heart-breaking and disturbing and though this explains how he ended up, the film doesn't try to excuse him.

I watched the first episode but the constant unnecessarily dramatic music in the background is off putting

No it's a much more complex story which requires a lot of footage and explaining from all sides.
I binged the entire thing in 1 night. Knackered the next day but it's simply a brilliant piece of film.

The documentary on the LA Riots is a tough watch, very graphic, but excellent.

Agree anewme. I watched it Saturday evening and it's still in my head.
I had Wikipedia open on my lap for a lot of it.

It is worth watching . There are so many layers , and twists and just unbelievable events unfolding as you watch it . Crazy , but brilliant Doc tbh .

After reaching the halfway point of ep.2 it seemed like the mainstream community merely resented them and bad timing with Waco.

I'm guessing that's not how it turns out judging by comments.

I don't think those of us who have watched it should say anything more about it cause it can ruin it but it's got quite a few twists.
