Woke up this morning to let the dog out and looking in through the kitchen door was a HUGE cock pheasant! In the middle of a housing estate! The b#@*€;%d wouldn't be in front of me on a Sunday morning in the field!

As i write this the two that i have seen for years are about 50 yards down the field to the back of my house. I had to "shoo" one of them out of the Garden the other day for fear the dogs would get him.

He is kinda "immune" form shooting. After 3-4 years of seeing (what i can only assume is the same bird) i wouldn't touch him. However as you said it is typical that i don't see one when i'm out looking for the feckers.

Very tempted to believe him. I had two in the garden this this morning.

Do you ever notice they disappear just before the season and re-appear Feb 1st.

Or my favorite are the deer, hinds and calves when the stags are in and then they swap around......... poor dumb animals my ass, they know well and are only teasing us.
