Yup,you know,I know,we all know its a feral pig most likely, but as usual the great unwashed our there need to be educated to this horrendous threat to their very lives and limbs by our gallant 4th estate here.. Wont be long before the cries of "something must be done about it." will be raised
Oh well, soon have my boar spear finished so it might be handy for fighting off the depradations of an Irish wild pig.

BTW how do you link a pic or article to a word or sentence as you did above??:confused:

When you click on a website the full address is in the header bar. So for example when i click on the shooting homepage it shows this in the header bar:

    6034073

I right click on this and it highlights the entire address. I click copy.

I then go back to the reply box in the post i'm composing. I wirte the words i want to show what i'm talking about. So for example i write "Here is how to do this". I select all the words i want to use as my hyperlink. Once i have them selected I click on the hyper link button - this one createlink.gif - and a new, smaller window opens.

    6034073

I right click on it and paste the address i copied from the other website. The highlighted words will be highlighted, but now there is the address i wanted to link to before the words.

Once you finish writing and post your reply only the words show up in another colour to show they are a link.

Reads like the usual muppetry from our distinguished word wizzards alright. Also, good luck to the hopeful local with his shotgun, I hope he's got something better than birdshot and knows the difference between a reasonable distance and the length of a football pitch.

This made it onto to the radio over the last few days. I turned off when they started interviewing the local ICPSA dog warden, who had had his role expanded to handle the "wild boar problem"...

Listened to the exact same Sparks, doggie man was certainly enjoying his fifteen minutes of fame but didn't realise that silence is often better than drivel.

His remarks about wild animals not being fit for human consumption and boar being dangerous were just over the top and if they were in any way correct the turn over of members in this forum must be phenomenal because we should have all died of eating lethal rabbits, pheasant, duck, deer and pigeons a dozen times over and the happy few who had a chance to hunt boar should all be amputees if not worse....

Its funny that it is ok to re introduce golden eagles and sea eagles but wild boar are a problem.

They're too destructive to modern agriculture ( an easily accessed well cultivated field is like a piggy's take-away ) and that's the only reason why there will never be a reintroduction program for them like there is for eagles and the likes. They'd be great for clearing a load of crappy undergrowth in national park forrestry though.

Exact same criteria apply to the release of any wildlife. To date I don't think anyone has applied to reintroduce wild boar to Ireland, and done the research, population viability analyses etc. that would go along with that. So theres no special treatment - it's just that nobody has put the work in. It's not as easy as saying "I want to release these, they were here before" and getting a yes or a no!

Have a read through This, spend a few years studying and reporting on how a Wild Boar release fulfills all of the criteria, apply to the relevant department with your supporting documents, and then if they match all of the criteria as well as the Eagle releases did, but you get refused, then we might ahve something that's "funny".

Regarding the article, typical "think of the children!!" tabloid crap
