The vacuum that I have for the boilers has started to make weird sounds. What would the lidl one on sale tomorrow be like for that job?

I was going to get it as a back up to my Dewalt because it only has a 500w motor. Any more & it can destroy the furnace board in boilers.
For the money, it looks like great value. That & the ladder in Lidl tomorrow!

I have a couple spare if you want to replace it. Bought them as a good idea but turned out to be too strong a suction.

Borrowed one from a mate when my first Dewalt packed & first time to use it was on a sooty utility model. Was all masked up & started hoovering only to around to see a cloud of black dust bellowing out of the exhaust of the hoover. Customer was not best pleased to have their utility room covered in black soot. Whoops!

The lidl ash vac is great been using it since January 12 and still going strong . Some times 6 SE boilers a day . Just don't use it on an Oil boiler as well , you know how smelly they can get . Gonna grab a separate 1 for that when they are back in stock .only about €40 euro . Builder providers selling diff ones for €80 odd.

When you say 6 a day, are you talking gas only. Afterwards you say don't use it on an oil boiler. Which boilers do you consider it great for.

I didn't buy one, because I read negative reviews about it throwing soot and dust out the back. Any comment on that?

There are still some in a Lidl not too far away and I am still in too minds about getting one.

    6 gas boilers .
After I did an oil boiler I had to clean it out completely as it had the strong kerosene smell .
As for gas boilers . Right job , light , reliable , made a smaller nozzle out of qual pex for the hard to reach areas and greater suction .
I'm gonna buy another 2mw if they are in stock .
Good value too .would take a few months to even fill it with what comes out of most gas boilers so rarely have to empty .

I do oil only. Some are sooted up, but most are only about a cupful of red residue similar to dry sea sand. Would you recommend it for that? Also, have you had any trouble with it blowing particles out through the exhaust filter?
The one I use at the moment is like a cheap version of a bagless dyson and I am tempted to get another one. But if the Lidl one at €40 would do the same as the one I have at €90, why spend the extra €50

Oil is a lot heavier on the vacs alright. You will get the odd burst out the back but nothing to worry about .i only get it if I haven't used it for a few days . I would get it if I was you .you won't be disappointed

As you know; I only do oil and I use a 3 chamber vac that I got in Woodies €90 It's good for totaly sutted up boilers but doesn't have the strongest suction even though it's a 1300watt.
Any recommendations for something better that can handle heavy soot loads ?
My chimney sweep uses a HENRY Smiley face type. So I'll look into that. I'm willing to pay the right price for something good, strong and compact.

Here's a handy tip for you:
I've adapted a big sink plunges to go onto the hose and it fits perfectly onto the burner hole/flange so as I'm brushing/scraping boiler it all goes (99%) into the vac.
Another one is tying a bag over LL flue to stop the wind blowing soot back, if it's an indoor boiler.

I am legaly obliged to tell you to remove bag before fireing the boiler !!!!

id be wary going over 600w you don't want to be taking the base refractory home with you especially warmflow boilers

plunger sounds a good idea scudo

I picked up the Lidl one on Friday. I think it's a bit strong & hopefully doesn't blow out crap from the exhaust. I only got for a back up & perhaps for very dirty boilers.

I use the DeWalt & I find it the best for both oil & gas. Never any crap out.
The only downside I find with it is the chamber is very small & with very dirty oil boilers, I often have to empty it upto 3 times on one boiler. I carry some black sacks in the van. The filter is so good, it needs to be removed & banged inside a sack after nearly every boiler.

The hose end in the one I use has a little slider that allows air in to reduce suction at the nozzle. Great for hovering out the bottom of the combustion chamber.

I've use a Numatic NVQ 380 B for 40 years. Probably 3 new units and maybe 6 motors in that time. I never used a bag - only the filter - never a problem with escaping dust. If the boiler was sooty - take off the top of the vac, hold down the filter and rattle it round a bit and suction was restored.
Maybe expensive, but no sooty kitchens or utility rooms.

Had the problem with the lidl one and blowing soot out the back too. Have 2 in van now. One for boilers and one for sucking up water
How much is the deWalt one?

Shane does like his de Walt. I'm not a fan of mine at all. I think the suction is too weak, the motor too loud and the hose is short, but stretches like elastic which I find awkward

I'll swap you new super sucking shiney Lidl one for your poor performing DeWalt one.

I just used my new Numeric Henry today on a really sutted boiler, it was a great job,no clogging and handled a large volume in one go, it's better and only half the size of my old ind. one.
    Ta for info.
