Cube bikes

    Hello Cubists,

My finger is hovering over the trigger, about to squeeze on a cube racer. My LBS also deals in Giant, Felt, Scott, Lapierre. I like everything about the cube bar the guarantee, which is a mere three years on carbon, as opposed to a lifetime guarantee on most other frames. I have emailed them asking what gives? But no response. A 5 year guarantee would be fully acceptable for me, as that is the length of the BTW scheme. 3 years makes me a small bit nervous.

Looking for feedback from cube users out there - how do you like your bikes, and how well are they wearing?

I'd be going to lbs if warranty is important to you.

    Ta.

I would say that I'll be getting one of them next time, but it's extremely unlikely. :(

Giant, Felt, Specialized, amongst others, while Scott and Lapierre offer 5 year warranties. Cube do 6 on alu and 3 on carbon.

I will definitely be dealing with LBS.

I have a Cube Aerium for the last 4 years. Love the bike and it hasn't given me an ounce of problem.

    I'd definitely buy Cube again.

    +1

I have a Cube for two year. It's Alu framed with a carbon fork. Not a bother with it at all.

Got a cube road carbon bike and an aluminium MTB. Very happy with them both.

The eastson wheels on some of the cubes the last few years fell apart (well most in our club did) But i think some of the 2013-14 models have mavic wheels.

Trek have lifetime warranty on carbon frames.

I have an aluminium framed cube with carbon fork, (peleton race) and have had some problems with it. The biggest issue was the rear deraileur hanger broke in two after about 200km and deraileur ended up in the rear wheel. Required a new deraileur and chain.
Easton 30 wheels on it and about every two to three weeks a couple of the spokes on the back wheel require tightening and I have not hit a pothole or anything similiar with them. I weight about 83kg so should not be a huge issue for good wheels. Perhaps above issue is the cause. I know someone who builds wheels so am going to get him to rebuild them.

The frame and fork have been prefect though and it is really nice and comfortable to ride although this is my first serious road bike so don't have much to compare it with.
Overall I'm pleased with the bike and have been well looked after by LBS with the above issues.

Mine came with DT Swiss wheels and I haven't had to have a single spoke tightened.

Have the Peleton Race 2013 a few months, very happy so far, cycling it every day.
Saddle didn't suit me and changed but only other thing I'd change are the brakes
which are not 105 as per rest of bike (Shimano BR-R561) and are not brilliant IMO.

    Lovely bike.

Should be cheap enough to change to a 105 caliper.

I change the callipers on my Cube Agree to the Ultegra ones for about €100 from the random shimano ones it came with. It was cheaper still considering I needed new pads anyway.

The 2014 model comes equipped with 105 brakes so a good upgrade thank god

Thanks for all the feedback lads. The bike shop are pretty positive about Cube also, but they would be. This year's model comes with Fulcrum 77 wheels, should be ok, and 105 groupie all the way through, apart from tiagra chain and cassette.

If I get the cube, I'll let you know what I think after the first few spins.

Trigger pulled on the Cube Agree GTC Pro!!! Pretty excited, I have to say! Should have it by the weekend, or early next week. Nearly had my head turned by Giant, but the paint job, full 105 groupset and better wheels swung it. No real difference in comfort or feel from sitting on either bike. I wish they gave a more confidence inspiring warranty than 3 years, but maybe as they grow the company they'll do this. I reckon they'd sell more bikes if they at least matched the length of the BTW scheme.

Anyone know if the callipers accept 25mm tires? Switching out the Schwalbe 1s for Continental 4 seasons, would like to go 25mm for comfort.

They should do. I have a 2012 Agree SL with Ultegra calipers. Currently running 23s, but from looking at it, 25s shouldn't be a problem. You'll have to slip the switch on the caliper to open them up when fitting the wheel, but that'll all. Any larger than 25s and you'll run out of clearance at the top of the fork.

I doubt you'll be disappointed. The Agree GTC Pro is a lovely bike. Only selling my 2011 one as it's a little too big for me. Replaced it with a Litening Super HPC Pro.

    Thanks folks,

Yeah, there's no problem with the bike taking 25s, spoke to them again today. I'm maxing out the comfort on this machine!!!

Still waiting on delivery, but the weather isn't making me impatient! If I head out tomorrow, the hybrid will do just fine!

Just out of Curiosity how much did you pay for the Cube I'm in the process of buying one from O'Mahony cycles in dungarvan the 2913 agree gtc race with full( almost full chain is FSA and seat post) 10 speed Ultegra for €1480 he also has the 2014 11 speed full Ultegra for €1800 which I'm told is a lot smoother but I couldn't tell any difference.

While I was there I also took out the 2013 Focus cayo full Ultegra but gel the Cube was a lot more comfortable for me

You've got a good deal there. The Cube retails at €1599, some shops put it on at €1650ish. My local bike shop did it for €1440 (10%) after a serious haggle (based on the fact that both local bike shops floored out at 10%, so he matched his nearest rival), but his service is excellent and I am getting a few extras from him (rather than online or elsewhere), and he has my business for the near future at least. He also offers a full bike fit and a 6 week tune up with all his bike sales, so it's a good deal all round. Tribikes in Limerick for anyone interested.

My wife bikes, my kids are getting into it at a young age, so it makes sense for shops to haggle and do business in the interest of longer term business. The first bike shop I drew up a relationship with did well out of me - two adult hybrids, two kids go karts and three kids bikes, along with servicing and upgrades. It is worth any shop's while to strike up a relationship with new customers. Don't be afraid to haggle, your shop will only do business if it suits them, and it needs to suit you too.

I bought a cube hyde race 2014 at xmas. The rear wheel collapsed , all spokes went lose. Happened one morning on my way to work. Bike shop rebuilt wheel however spokes still lose and wheel creaks when riding. Internal hub slips periodically. Bike shop are being very helpful and getting replacement parts. It will be a few weeks before its fixed. I was probably just unlucky.
