Flightradar doesnt show every plane in the arrivals list. Most non scheduled flights are not in the list and even some scheduled are not shown.

Aircraft on ground doing post maintenance engine test runs for well over 10/15 mins so that might well have been it!

Anyone hear anything about germanwings? Still nothing is bookable.

It appears that the SNN-ACE service will be operated by an a320 tomorrow. The a320 will come from Heathrow tomorrow at 15:45 and because of this the flight will not take off until 16:30.

Its a bit early to be asking, but when will the figures for 2014 be available?

So 2015 looks to be a less promising year than we thought. Will the 767 on SNN-BOS, the extra flights on the SNN-PHL and SNN-JFK and the Ryanair service continuing from last year counter the Loss of SNN-BHX, SNN-BRS and SNN-EDI and the reduction of the SNN-AGP and SNN-FAO services with EI?

Finally, Im glad to see that my suggestion of adding /15 to the title was taken up:P

I say you are right, had a look out there this morning and nothing stood out.

Examiner appointed to Shannon aircraft company (Irish Examiner) :(

An interim examiner has been appointed to an aircraft maintenance company that employs over 200 staff at Shannon airport.

The High Court has heard the Russian owned Transaero Engineering Ireland is feeling the effects of geo-political tensions.

Shannon based Transaero Engineering Ireland has been under Russian ownership since 2012.

As a result the aircraft maintenance company claims it is suffering the knock-on effects of EU/US trade sanctions, falling oil prices and the rouble currency crisis.

Judge Bernard Barton has appointed Michael McAteer as interim examiner to try and save the insolvent business which employs over 230 people – many of whom are highly specialised technical staff.

The survival plan will see some form of restructuring but in the meantime the company is sending out the message that it's business as usual.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to put on flights from Shannon to Edinburgh? Its such a pity to not have that route.

I too (from a selfish point of view) would like the BHX to SNN route restored, is there any hope of anyone taking that on? Numbers looked reasonable enough to keep it going?

If they are to be restarted by Ryanair, then my bets would be on September. Unless flybe or someone hops in, which is unlikely.

    http://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/34058-aer-lingus-settles-on-omni-air-for-b767-lease-requirements

Aer Lingus have settled the 767 contract, a 767-200 from omni. My understanding of the article is that its saying that the 767 is being leased due to the cancellation of the leasing of an A330-200, but I think they have made a mistake there. It also says it will be hired until December 20th, is that accurate? It does state it will be used on the SNN-BOS route.

Eirtech Aviation chief to head merged group (Irish Times)

Eirtech Aviation chief executive Niall Cunningham is set to take the helm at the enlarged group formed by the merger of the Irish business with two US aircraft maintenance companies.

Last August, Eirtech, California-based Leading Edge Aviation Services and its sister company, Associated Painters, announced they were joining forces to form a new entity, International Aerospace Coatings Holdings (IAC), with the backing of private equity player, Vance Street Capital.

IAC has appointed Mr Cunningham as chief executive. He will take responsibility for developing and implementing the enlarged group’s strategy.

The group employs more than 800 people across Europe, North America and the United Arab Emirates. It specialises in exterior and interior aircraft painting, refurbishment, graphics and other services. Customers include large commercial airlines, equipment manufacturers, aircraft lessors and the military.

Shannon-based Eirtech is a shareholder in IAC. Mr Cunningham founded the company when he led a management buyout of Lufthansa Technik’s (LHT) operation at the airport in 2009.

Anyone know what caused UA24 be delayed 10 hours?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,144 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Aer Lingus have updated their SNN-BOS flights to a Boeing 767. They list the airline as "AFRICAN INTERCONTINENTAL AIRWAYS" which is strange. Business class seats are being sold, but on Omni planes they are all economy. Does this mean that business class will be added into the plane?

Russia bails out parent company of Transaero Engineering Ireland (Irish Times)

A €120 million Russian government bailout for the parent of aircraft maintenance specialist Transaero Engineering Ireland (TEI), could aid efforts to save the company’s 235 jobs.

The move has raised hopes that Mr McAteer (interim examiner) will be able to seek repayment of €2.93 million due to TEI from its parent for maintenance on the Russian carrier’s craft and retain it as a customer.

The prospect of being able to recoup the cash due from Transaero and add the carrier to its customer base could ease the examiner’s task.

TEI employs 235 people in Shannon where it carries out heavy maintenance and repair on Boeing craft for a range of customers.

Shannon accepts aircraft as Dublin suspends flights (Clare Herald)

Hundreds of passengers found themselves on the other side of the country tonight after their flights were forced to divert of Shannon because of high winds in Dublin.

    ************************************************************

Combing this report with homerjay2005’s post, it seems the following diverted to Shannon Airport.

Stobart Air flights from Edinburgh, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow.

Aer Lingus flights from Cologne, London Gatwick, Brussels, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.

    Ryanair flight from Madrid.

    Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt.

On a side note, I know this guy is a lunatic, but he only needs another lunatic to take note:

    http://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/us-use-of-shannon-airport-makes-ireland-a-target-anjem-choudary-1.2060258

Ireland is a legitimate target for attack because of its decision to allow American planes refuel at Shannon Airport on their way to bombing Muslim countries, a radical Muslim preacher based in the UK has warned today.

“You allow the Americans, who are the biggest butchers in the world, to stop at Shannon Airport to refuel and go on to kill people in Muslim countries... if you believe the Americans are terrorists, the Irish government is colluding with them and aiding and abetting terrorism,” he said.

The Americans have pulled combat troops out of Iraq and Afganistan so you're going to see very little future troop movement through Shannon. I actually haven't seen an Omni Air in ages.

Shannon Airport air traffic up +8.5% for December (IAA).

We will probably see a drop in commercial movements for 2015 due to the withdrawal of Aer Lingus Regional.

You will seem them daily from June-August :P (According to reports, Aer Lingus are taking the B767-200 from June 8th to December 21st (or there abouts). What will it be doing after August?)

When will the passenger numbers for Shannon be out? Dublin, Cork (I think) and Knock each have theirs listed.

I'd be surprised if AL don't get at least the tail painted in their own colours.

A 767 in full AL livery would be nice:P There used to be a 767-300 in the AL fleet, but that was in the old livery.

Clare in twinning link with China (Clare Herald) :)

Clare County Council has accepted an invitation from the People’s Republic of China to send a delegation to the country later this year.

Since the visit of China’s Vice President Xi Jinping’s to Clare in 2012, the local authority has been exploring the potential of establishing a twinning arrangement that fosters the development of closer industrial, tourism, farming, educational and cultural ties between the County and China.

Members of Clare County Council today voted in favour of accepting an invitation from the Vice President of Yunnan Province to visit the region in April or May 2015 with a view to building links between the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark and the Stone Forest Geopark (Shilin Geopark), located in the southwest of China.
