According to the Aer Lingus website, this route is being flown by an 757, has it yet to update?

Where did you get your information?
Do you know weather it is a -200,-300,-400?

Also good to have a daily flight on a wide body again next summer:P

    Edit:
I checked my emails, and I got one from Aer Lingus about all their new Dublin routes and increased frequencies:P Mainly focused on Washington.
In the email it mentioned :"Extra flights have also been added to other favourite routes – San Francisco, New York and Orlando and more seats will be available on our Shannon to Boston route."

That is an indication that a bigger aircraft will be used, but not giving information on what one.

But I have found a news story confirming the use of a 767

Most of the info in the Corporate page.

For the proposed SNN - BOS Summer service - If its a 210 seater 767 - then its probably a -300 - 2 class config. Its not a -200 unless all Y and a -400 would be a little too big for the route.

I have often arrived in EWR on United 025 from SNN around 10.30am (when the winds are good!)which is great when you have the day ahead of you.

Aer Lingus have their Heathrow timings on Saturday the same next summer as they are this winter, on saturdays the A319 is in use on the ace route, so a plane is comes from london Heathrow instead. This signals the ace route will continue in the summer but has yet to be announced.

A320 being used on LHR from Shannon today.

I noticed a Kenya Airways arriving in Shannon this evening.

Over the past few months a number of such planes from Kenya Airways have been returned to the Lessor.

They get a paint job at Eirtech and an overhaul at Shannon Aerospace before being leased out again to Nordwind Airlines, Eastern Airlines.

It's nice to see the Aviation Leasing, the Painting and the MRO sectors at Shannon working hand in hand.

SIPTU not recommending acceptance of DAA pension proposals (RTE)

SIPTU's Pensions Committee at the Dublin Airport Authority has told the company that it will not recommend acceptance of pension restructuring proposals to address as €750 million deficit in the joint Aer Lingus/DAA pension scheme.

Yesterday, workers in Aer Lingus voted to accept restructuring proposals to address the deficit in their part of the joint pension scheme shared by the airline, the DAA and the Shannon Airport Authority.

The DAA wrote to unions today noting the outcome of the Aer Lingus ballot, and that no ballot has yet taken place at the DAA.

Mr O’Loughlin (SIPTU) also noted that the DAA has stated that if the proposals are not accepted by employees in the Shannon Airport Authority before 31 December, when the IASS is wound up, the DAA will be absolved of all responsibility to resolve the pension dispute for DAA employees who transferred to the Shannon Airport authority on the 1 January 2013.

Mr O'Loughlin claims that this will add €15 million to the cost base of the Shannon Airport Authority - and he urged the DAA to extend the duration of their responsibility for their former employees.

Is this the last legacy issue for the Shannon Group????

    Irish Independent

Speaking at Shannon Airport this morning ahead of an airlift of 70 in-calf dairy heifers, including 30 raised by inmates at Shelton Abbey and Loughan House prisons, that will transform the lives of an impoverished Romanian community, CEO of Heifer International CEO Pierre Ferrari said that Irish people are an example to the rest of the world when it comes to helping the poor.

Heifer International, which has itself lifted 20.7m families out of abject poverty since it was founded 70 years ago and will aid 2m families this year, was the first aid organisation in the world to use livestock as a means of taking people out of poverty. Among its leading international partner agencies is Irish NGO Bóthar, which is responsible for the today’s airlift from Shannon Airport after having the 70 heifers donated to it by Irish farmers.

Mr Ferrari, who joined Bóthar Executive Director Deirdre M Ryan on the precious cargo flight to Romania this morning, said that he has been struck by the extraordinary sense of giving of the Irish people.

    Interesting video clip.

Shannon Airport records further growth in October (Clare Herald)

Shannon Airport’s strong momentum across 2014 has continued into the final month of the autumn, with passenger numbers for October showing a 28% increase on the same period twelve months ago.

The biggest gains in passengers through the terminal were again on European services, which were up by 63% on the same period 12 months ago thanks to a range of nine attractive new routes that were launched for the summer season (April through to end of October).

Eight of those were on the European market, which resulted in a 111% increase (from 20,347 to 42,950) in passengers to and from the continent last month compared to October 2013.

Transatlantic passengers were up by 15% (from 23,511 to 27,108) thanks to the increased frequency across New York and Boston services this year, with Shannon’s biggest market, the UK, up by 6% (from 61,681 to 65,243).

Great news about the 111% increase in European traffic in October, surely that's some sort of record?

It was my understanding that Birmingham was once per day in the winter season, yet I find it twice per day during November, December and February,(Have not checked the other months) the heart of the winter season. Maybe this is upgraded to 2 as a result of Manchester service being dropped?
(As I post this, Aer Lingus is advertising "Fly to Birmingham" at the top of my screen:P)

BHX was upped to double daily this Summer and remaining so for winter.

The last time I flew from Shannon was to Tenerife

BHX was upped to double daily this Summer and remaining so for winter.

The Shannon airport website lists it as daily, although I find it can be inaccurate.

They have the exact same summer schedule still listed, they just renamed it summer season 2015. It dosnt include Manchester and Kaunas with ryanair, nor has it deleted Manchester with ei or Toronto with air transat

Air Canada (A-319 C-GITP) must have diverted to Shannon yesterday.

It was on route from London Heathrow to St John's in Newfoundland.

What was the nature of the diversion?

Air Canada was a splash and dash. Very strong headwinds on the Atlantic so extra fuel needed before they began the crossing

Jet makes u-turn with ill passenger (Clare Herald)

A US-bound passenger jet made a u-turn over the Atlantic yesterday and diverted to Shannon Airport after a passenger on board fell unconscious.

American Airlines flight AA-211 had just commenced it’s oceanic crossing and was about 100 kilometres off the Mayo coast when the crew opted to turn around.

The Boeing 757-200 jet had only departed Manchester at 10.30am and was en route to New York’s JFK International Airport.

The crew had been in contact withe the Irish Aviation Authority’s North Atlantic Communications Service centre at Ballygirreen in Co. Clare at the time.

At around 11.20am, just 50 minutes into the flight, the pilot advised controllers that they had a passenger in his 60’s who had collapsed in his seat and was unconscious.

Cabin crew members quickly went to assist the passenger and informed the flight crew of the issue. The crew decided not to continue across the Atlantic and decided instead to diverted to the nearest suitable airport.

The pilot confirmed they he wished to divert to Shannon and requested the emergency medical services be available for their arrival.

I know Ireland needs all the business it can get at the moment, but it's part of the cause of the problem of world environmental degradation, rather than the solution, as the meat industry needs 26 times as much land to feed humans the equivalent amount of fruit/veg/cerials! Not to mention the pollution from flying, a hidden cost!

I think the type of livestock shipped here are for dairy farming i.e. for milk, cheese rather than meat products.

Shipping them out by cargo plane is much less stressing for the animals than a two-day road / ferry journey by truck.

I think the 70 families who will benefit from this practical humanitarian aid would outweigh any negative environmental concerns here.

Several new stories out their about Dolours.

Someone must of caused her to lose the plot, because you don't fracture a foot of a cabin crew and headbut and spit at a guard under normal circumstances.

Several but the one Brennan's Row posted is by far the most comprehensive.
