    They are typically bad.
    Batistas speech was brilliant

It was. Cena was pretty slick and Bryan is a pretty great communicator and extremely endearing even to an audience who didn't know about the Yes movement.

Maybe if they're going to continue with these they should wait til closer the event and have it in the city where it's on, where there'll be a bit of buzz and involve more fans. Have a Q&A. Include it as part of the platinum travel packs or something.

Part of issue according to someone who was there was a lack of communication from WWE on whether the press were allowed to be "part of the show" or not.

Blimey. The awkwardness of the whole thing was unbelievable. The staredowns at the end. Even the HHH-D-Bryan one. I mean they were ripping each other's heads off at the closing of Raw, and laughing and joking at the presser 12 hours later. Staged pro-wrestling shouldnt have these kinda things. A line of wrestler's at the top of a stage similar to the way UFC do it would be better.

The last American pro wrestling press conference I watch was Wrestlemania 14 and I remember that being pretty good.

and it's not the only one they are doing, there is another one just before Mania - from 4:30-5:30 (local time)

In genuine shock at this week's Wrestlemania Rewind being Jericho vs Triple H.

why i genuinely like hunter but he's overplayed in importance in the countdowns so it's no shock that his mania match would be considered internally so high

Like to think the timing of the episode is another troll job. But a lot of the Network programme was put together a year or more ago.

I'd hoped these rewind shows might provide some genuine insight but they've not been great thus far, and between this & the Cena episode, seems like they're going to do them for just about any upper card Mania match.

Side note - anyone else sometimes feel like you're being brainwashed when you watch a few of the original programmes on the network? Watched two Mania rewinds and a countdown show last night...the incessant mentions of 'the universe' and constant portrayal of how WWE is this wonderful place to work and one big happy family...I know it's par for the course with this company but sometimes it'd be nice if everything wasn't so...homogenised? Like just hit us with the truth, these airbrushed versions of history can be quite insufferable.

I thought the bloopers countdown show was good but they needed to let the moments speak for themselves a little before the talking heads and music came in over the top. Over produced would be the term I think.

Am I totally out to lunch or anyone know what I mean?

If you're interested in WCW stuff but have not seen a lot of it, I've been working my way through all their PPV's in chronological order. It's good fun. Some of it is so bad it's good and some of it is just great. Best of all, I don't know a lot of the match results so that adds excitement.

There was a prominent real world journalist who attended the WWE Press Conference who remarked to PWInsider's Mike Johnson that he felt it was like a Nuremberg Rally.

I don't know what you like but standard recommendations to begin with are:

    WWF pay-per-views:
In Your House 16 Canadian Stampede
    Wrestlemania 17
    Money in the Bank 2011

    WCW
    Great American Bash 1989
Most of the late 80s Starrcades

    ECW:
    Heatwave 98

    WCCW:
The one with Flair vs Von Erich and anything with the Freebirds vs Von Erichs

It depends what style you like, what wrestlers etc.

Most of the Legends of Wrestling roundtables are pretty good.

I remember the Hart Foundation getting a huge pop at a PPV in Canada. I'd wait for the episodes of Raw, though.

Are you sure about that? As the previous WM rewind was about Bret doing 2 matches in one night at WM X - and the latest "beyond the mat" to be added is triple H: Thy kingdom come, and now this? I think it may be too much of a coincidence for that to just happen!

There was talk as far back as 2011 about doing a Countdown show that was to be a lead-in to Raw. So yeah, this programming has been around for a while.

    Anyone having problems right now?

My PS3 is giving me a fatal error and on my Macbook it's saying not available in this location, which is worrying since I've got my unblock US turned on...

Love the legends of wrestling shows.

It's like Vince and Stephanie don't even know the show exists with some of the things that are said on it.

Shocked in the greatest rivalries episode it shows a bret promo were he says the H in HBK stands for homo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,221 ✭✭✭The Ayatolla

Why is it a troll job? Triple H is one of the greatest of all time, a lot of people would want to see these countdown shows and his documentary.

The Legends show flew under the radar. Only 6 people worked on the entire series (not including guests obv). They're showing a Legends of Wrestlemania tonight or tomorrow I think which looks to be a new episode.

If that's the case I expect the new episodes to be toned down now they're on the network.

Probably, I don't know. It's the closest thing they ever got to documenting history legit as well as producing something that could rival the shoot interview DVD market. Though a lot of the guests were Yes men and when it was anchored by Scheme Gene I thought they suffered a bit.

From what I remember Kevin Nash was good on them. Never liked him at all but he was no bullsh*t and was talking as if the cameras weren't there.

Has anybody in the know released figures or strong gestimates as to how many buys the network has had thus far?
