Legit Rovert? I just got the notification on the iPad and thought it was a nice coincidence with what happened Sunday.

I want the Network to be a success but it seems a strange announcement after the #cancelWWENetwork trend online.

Let me put on my Tin Foil Hat and ask could it be a big FU (not Cenas old move ! :D) to the twitter world and CM Punk?

As today is the one-year anniversary of CM Punk deciding to leave the WWE following a backstage meeting with Vince and HHH?!

I can't figure how WWE could put that 24 thing on the network the night after that shambles of a Royal Rumble did they not watch it

Has all that emotion and stuff for poor Connor the Crusher gone down the toilet in the last 12 months, He'd be spinning in his grave if he saw how they treated Bryan this year

Still it was a good show ..Mad me sad though reliving the Warriors final days :(

Unless it's an outright lie, the 1 million subscriber announcement really puts a damper on this #cancelwwenetwork sentiment. It also reminds us of the disconnect between the hardcore IWC (and Twitter buzz in general) and reality.

    How I feel after cancelling the network;

Homer: You just lost yourself a customer!
Moe: Wha? I'm sorry, Homer I couldn't hear you
Homer: I said you just lost yourself a customer!
    Moe: Huh?
Homer: You just lost yourself a customer!
Moe: Homer you're going to have to speak up!
Homer: You just lost yourself a customer, Moe!
Moe: I've forced myself to wha?
Homer: You just lost yourself a customer!
Moe: Homer.. I'll talk to you tomorrow!
Homer: You just lost yourself a customer!
Moe: Yeah you can use it!

i could be wrong, but it may be 1 million unique/different subscribers. they mightn't have 1 million active subscribers now

    WrestleMania 3 had a WWE 93,173 in attendance ;)

I'm no business man but announcing they hit a million, while they actually didnt, would be seen as fraud, surely? Since they are a publically traded company.

Then again, I wouldnt shocked to hear so many companies lie. Didnt Tesco recently?

It depends do they have 1 million subscribers right now or is that in total.

I have subscribed 5 times now and cancel 5 times.

So if it's 1 million in total it's just a white lie :p

They didn't say it was one million active subscribers so yeah you're prob spot on.

Did anyone else watch this last night? Im halfway through the first episode and it's a very good show so far. Behind the scenes at Wrestlemania 30 for this one and you get to see lots of backstage stuff.

That Warrior HOF speech still leaves a lump in the throat and they talk to his wife and kids on the show. Im up as far as Hogan flubbing his line about the Silverdome and the hilarious reaction by Stone Cold and The Rock before they go out when he did.

Apparently this episode will also be covering Vince going to the hospital with Taker as well. This show has great potential if they're all this good. My only couple of gripes is that it's only 30 minutes long when 60 would have suited it much better.

The name of it also makes searching for it online, even for a Youtube trailer, quite tricky as "WWE 24" is too generic for Google.

Nevertheless it's positive PR spin in a week where it's badly needed. And just coming into Mania season as well.

It was fantastic, as you say, it would be better if it was 60 mins as it seemed a bit rushed.

My question is how often will we see new episodes and will it all be based around wm30? A day in the life kind of thing would be cool for example following a superstar from a ppv one night to raw the next.

Probably not a spoiler but still from WWE24
Poor Warrior looked so nervous and stressed in the 24 Doc. Connor stuff always gets the aul emotions going.

Positive PR to who, exactly? Supposing it is a spin number and it's actually counting all-time subscribers, that number isn't going to impress shareholders or the IWC, and those are your two main groups who would care about such a figure. In fact, wouldn't it exacerbate the blow back from the Rumble if they were caught out in a feebly transparent PR save?

Now, that's supposing it is an all-time figure, but I can't believe they'd be that ignorant when it comes down to it.

    Shareholders were impressed.
By closing, WWE's stock rose almost 20% today, finally ending up at $12.50 based on the strength of the announcement that the WWE Network had broken one million subscribers. Between that and the big number that Raw garnered, it was a good day for WWE.

You're over-estimating "the IWC" (absolutely despise this term. Most of them are worse marks than your typical 12 year old Cena fan ). It's a very very small % of fans.

depends largely on when that million was recorded.
if it was lets say on Saturday, and only reported now, it's not so good as Americans are crazy enough to have actually cancelled in decent numbers since Sunday night.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

They are surely including the free subscribers in that. When is the next number announcement? That will be fun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,166 ✭✭✭Beefy78

It's current subscribers. They've confirmed that every single time that they've had to report the number over the past year. To do otherwise would be illegal as has been said as WWE is a listed company and you can't just mislead investors like that.

Now, anyone who cancelled Sunday would still be classed as a subscriber until their billing period has elapsed however lets be honest 95% of people who cancelled will be resubscribing no later than Wrestlemania.

Someone asked about "free" subscribers. There's no such thing - WWE might have to wait two weeks to bill people in UK & Ireland but that's a legal thing around distance selling regulations I think. Anyone who signed up is a genuine subscriber until such time as they cancel.

Yes folks, we realise current storylines are ****e, they're not pushing the right people but we have to be honest. The network is a fantastic service for part-time, casual & die-hard fans and the WWE (and Vince) should be commended for the massive risk. The storylines will improve and they can't please everyone all the time. Mr H's will be in charge in a few years! I maintain hope! :D

Hopefully we see a few more features and quality shows like WWE24 in the coming months and years.

The Monday night wars series is fantastic. Ive been Watching them all week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 908 ✭✭✭Palo Alto

It was dreadful, it bulked out the entire series without about 1 hour of material repeated ad infinitum and mostly cobbed from old dvds.

By far the best thing recently was the Matt Hardy v Edge rivalries series. Genuinely uncomfortable to watch in parts, really worth a look.

I had great enthusiasm for these too - considered them can't miss. Until I realised just how much of the material was repeated. No need for it really. If i see Bischoff in front of that Titantron again, I'll kill
