Morrissey: 'I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia'

MORRISSEY has sparked outrage online when he compared eating animals to paedophilia

The controversial artist was answering questions from fans on True-To-You.net. when the online community were alerted to the outrageous comment.

The Smiths frontman was asked by a fan what motivated him to stop eating meat - to which he replied: "I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia.

"They are both rape, violence, murder. If I'm introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away."

He then used an example of introducing yourself to someone in a club as someone that enjoys "throat-slitting".

He said: "If you were in a nightclub and someone said to you 'Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life,' well, I doubt if you'd want to exchange phone numbers."

The rock star, who has been a huge supporter of animal rights campaign PETA, also took the time to lay into other celebrities on the website.

He went on to label former Blind Date host Cilla Black a baby eater and questioned why TV chef Jamie Oliver "doesn't stick one of his children in the microwave".

After explaining Cilla Black had appeared on a cooking show making a lamb dish, he slammed the idea that eating a baby of any species was wrong.

He said: "Since a lamb is a baby, I wondered what kind of mind Cilla Black could possibly have that would convince her that eating a baby is OK."

The singer-songwriter went on to say the Government should ban any 'flesh-food' adverts and meat-eating on the TV.

One of his strangest comments came in March last year when he defended the use of animals being used as fashion.

He said: "The rhino is now more or less extinct, and it's not because of global warming or shrinking habitats. It's because of Beyoncé's handbags."

I obviously think a lot of what he says is lunacy but I do take his point with regards to the eating of young Lambs (and Veal etc) as it does seem an awful thing to be eating. If there is a shortage of meat, then sure, I can understand that but for humans to be eating young lambs and calves, just because they are more tender at that age, is kind of reprehensible to me.

    What do you think yourselves?

Read that earlier on the journal. At this stage Morrissey is just as much a publicity whore as Miley Cyrus and Sinead O' Connor, neither of whom could genuinely be taken seriously either.

He's made silly comments like this before. It's just a cry for attention. The boy with the thorn in his side...

I agree, we should only eat animals that live to an old enough age to die of natural causes.

I would bet that Morrissey has had more then his fair share of sausage through the years.

Do any of PETAs "celebrities" know how humans survived for tens of thousands of years? But hunting and killing of Animals for fur and food. Humans have only farmed crops for something like 5,000 years. Or does PETA just tell their "celebrities" about rare factory farms and dodgy fur farms. Yes most fur farming is inhumane.

But can you honestly say a cow that was raised on a tiny farm in the west of Ireland, by a man who truly love being a farmer and is killed instantly in a slaughter house has had a horrible life? But acknowledging that isnt going to get your name in the press.

As a strict vegetarian of twenty four years I have never put my willy in a wombat or any other creature shorter than five foot let alone a bairn.

    Now necrophilia, thats another debate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 358 ✭✭WellThen?

CUCKOO. I get that veggies don't like the slaughter of animals, I get it. But to pair it up with rape and murder is just stupid.

He comes across as a moody deep thinking bastard, turns out he is not.

An utterly ridiculous comparison. He really has become a complete crackpot.

He's a brilliant musician, but the kinda person you'd tire of in 5 minutes.

Not eating lamb or veal because of the age of the animal is pure silliness in my opinion. Why should the age of the meat give any more validity to the right to life of the animal if that's your thing? And rose veal gives life to dairy bull calves that otherwise would be shot at birth. Anyway, that's a debate for another time.

Oh Morrissey. Got his autobiography for Christmas. It is hilarious. 'So very entertaining'. He doesn't live in the real world at all! Love his music and the smiths though. Sure it takes all sorts to make up a world!

He is certainly not doing vegans or vegetarians any favours.

Indeed, and even Russell Brand (who is a vegan) disagreed with him in the following clip when he made a comparison between abattoirs and the holocaust:

As a veggie, I cringe at reading this sort of thing. Does nothing for the vegetarian cause, making us look like lunatics! Meat is murder, but it's not a Sexual parafilia (unless you do bold things to your steak before you eat it!)

Morrissey needs a slap for trying to draw that comparison.

He's either seeking controversy, profoundly stupid, or seriously deficient in human empathy.

Probably something of the first, substantially of the second, and compounded by the third.

You know the way there's always someone that before you even hear what they have to say, you just go "ugh, that guy"?

Morrissey is that person for me. This just reinforces that. Ugh.

I know that Morrissey released a statement saying that he was advised to give up touring. After so many cancellations I hope he takes notice. And perhaps give up singing altogether - to give us all a break, the miserable git.

I don't really mind some of his songs but his voice is like somebody who needs to clear his throat but instead of coughing he gargles mouthwash whilst simultaneously suffering from depression about having such an annoying voice.

Basically: I hate listening to Morrissey or even the Smiths because of his stupid voice.

Dont listen to it then. Simples!

Does Morrissey realise that animals eat each other.

Therefore Morrissey actually supports rape and paedophilia by supporting animal rights.

    By his logic that is.

I don't. Not if I can help it anyway, will always switch him off in my car and stuff but sometimes I've no choice.

I object to everyone who says that these are the attention seeking comments of a media whore trying to revive a dying career.

Morrissey was always a turgid, stupid dickhead.
